Sonic dashed through the forest, rolling between trees and running through logs. Knuckles, Tails, and Y/n were all at the end with determined smiles.

The group could be seen in London. Tails flew above while Y/n landed on the roof of a double-decker bus with a smile. Knuckles leapt off Big Ben, his fists in flames as Sonic ran along the infamous London Bridge.

"Try to keep up!" The hedgehog exclaimed.

"I know it hasn't always been easy," Tom said, lifting up some vines to show a cave drawing of Sonic and Longclaw back home. "But you didn't change who you are in here." The cop pointed to the blue hedgehog's chest.

"Yeah," Sonic nodded with a smirk. "In my lungs."

Tom let out a small sigh, keeping his upturned expression. "Or your heart."

Sonic cheered, sliding up a log and twirling in the air, seemingly on a forest run.

Alarms blared at a facility on an island, the pouring rain mixing with the violent waves that hit the rocky shoreline.

"There's been a high-level security breach," informed the Commander of G.U.N. We see two agents monitoring a red tube that held a black and red hedgehog.

The hedgehog's eyes snapped open, red energy flaring up as he punched through the glass, much to the alarm of the surrounding agents.

"And we need Team Sonics immediate assistance." The Commander continued as a helicopter flew through a ring portal. Inside, Tails was in the pilot's seat, Y/n in the one beside him as they looked out into the city that glowed in the night below. Sonic put a comforting hand on the fox's shoulder, the two brothers smiling.

"Project Shadow is far beyond anything we've ever encountered." Multiple G.U.N. soldiers lined up, aiming their weapons at the hedgehog who stepped out of the shattered tube. Before a shot could be fired, the hedgehog teleported away.

"Shadows story began a lot like yours, Sonic."

Sonic held a flashlight while Y/n took out a device that emitted a similar light, the two looking around a seemingly abandoned lab.

In a flashback, Shadow is seen smiling, placing his hand on the inner glass of his green tube, his hand matching Maria's on the other side.

"But where you found family and friends..."

We see Sonic and friends lining up in the forest, Tom and Maddie standing before them. Tails readied himself, Knuckles slammed his fists into the ground, Y/n did a small stretch, and Sonic took a starting stance. Maddie waved a flag, the four taking off in a flash.

Shadow looks upon a shattered tube.

"Shadow found only pain, and loss."

The facility is in flames, G.U.N. soldiers closing in on Shadow and Gerald Robotnik who are hovering mournfully beside Maria's body.

Above a city skyline, Team Sonic kept an eye out from the helicopter.

"Alright, we got a rogue alien on the loose, how do we find him?" Sonic asked before a large explosion from below caught their attention.
