"I'm sorry I was late," Gojo said as the conference ended, his tone unusually sincere.
"You don't need to apologize, Mr. Gojo," you replied with an awkward smile, trying to brush off the tension.
"I have something to tell you," he began, his words catching you off guard.
"Yeah?" you responded, your heart picking up pace, anticipating something significant.
"We've got to go to the Maldives for a business deal," he finished, leaving you momentarily stunned.
"What?" you asked, eyes wide with surprise.
"Yeah. We leave tomorrow at 8 in the evening," he continued, the casual tone of his voice contrasting sharply with the bombshell he just dropped. It was a lot to process all at once.
"Um, okay," you managed to say, trying to keep your composure despite the whirlwind in your mind.
--
"Nobara!" you squealed in excitement as you burst through the door at home, startling her.
"What is it?" she asked, her eyes wide, sensing something big.
"I'm going to the Maldives tomorrow!" you blurted out, your tone a mix of excitement and disbelief.
"Fuck!" she exclaimed, mirroring your enthusiasm as you both started shouting and ran towards each other for a tight hug.
"Oh my god! You're so lucky! The Maldives!" she gushed, her excitement fueling yours.
"I'm even luckier because I'm going with Gojo!" you squealed, your voice rising even higher, catching Nobara off guard.
"Wait, what? I thought he was a dickhead?" she asked, pulling away from the hug, her confusion evident.
"Oh, um..." you stammered, realizing you hadn't filled her in on the recent developments. You were too excited to dive into the details, so you simply said, "I like him now."
Her eyes widened in shock, but she quickly recovered, her smile growing. "I don't know how that happened, but congrats!" she said, genuinely happy for you, while you floated on cloud nine.
"I'd be really disappointed if you don't let him fuck you, though!" Nobara teased mischievously. The thought of it made your heart race, and the two of you burst into another round of excited screams.
--
The next day was a blur of packing and preparing for the trip. You carefully selected casual and formal clothes, packed your iPad, sunscreen, towels, and other essentials. By 5 PM, you were ready and headed to the airport.
As you waited at the terminal in your spaghetti crop top, high-waisted skinny jeans, black jacket, and white sneakers, you spotted Gojo approaching. He looked effortlessly handsome in a white shirt under a black jacket, paired with skinny pants that accentuated his long legs. His presence made your heart flutter, and you couldn't help but notice his gaze linger on you, making your cheeks warm.
"Hi," you said as he reached you, suddenly feeling a bit shy.
"Hey," he replied, looking semi-normal despite the tension in the air.
"Hope I'm not late," he added after a brief silence.
"Not at all," you assured him, clearing the air.
"Let's go, then," he said, and you nodded, following him. As a VIP, Gojo traveled in business class, and the luxurious seats, comfortable surroundings, and extravagant setting felt like a dream.
--
The plane took off, and you found yourself sitting beside Gojo. At first, the atmosphere was tinged with awkwardness, the silence between you heavy. You decided to break it.
"When do we get there?" you asked, trying to ease the tension.
"Tomorrow morning," he replied, and the thought of spending the entire night next to him sent a blush creeping up your cheeks.
"You comfortable?" he asked, his concern for your well-being touching you.
"Yeah," you nodded with a smile, feeling a bit more at ease.
But soon, the conversation lapsed back into silence as the journey began, the unspoken emotions hanging in the air between you.
