a few days later shinji received a knock on his door to find serafall, being tailed by a gray haired woman
"what can i do for you lady leviathan" i asked
"we have prepared your new house for you" she said, smiling brightly, my eyebrow raised
"my...... new house" i said confused
"of course, you will have at least two other people living with you, and hopefully more then that, you will need more space" she said, i sighed
"lead on" i said
my mouth hung open, when serafall said house she meant mansion
"what the hell is this" i asked
"it's provided by us free of charge you don't need to worry about mortgage, and as for taxes, your pay as part of the NPA will likely pay for that quite nicely" serafall said
"this place is huge
"two floors, a good sized basement and an attic, the first floor houses the living room, dining room, kitchen, two of the fiv... excuse six bathrooms almost forgot the ensuite in the master bedroom, the second floor has all the bedrooms, and three of the five bathrooms including the aforementioned ensuite attached to your master bedroom, and your private study in case you need a quiet place to get work done or to hide in, the basement in completely insular no need to worry about flooding or anything, as such the main library is down there, we have stocked the library already, mostly with manga, one of the high-class devils is a tad obsessed, the basement also houses the laundry and utility room, there is a wine caller in the basement as well, and there is a forth room in the basement for more interesting activities, this was a request by the other high-class devil, who you will in fact be introduced to right now" serafall said
"i am grayfia lucifuge it is an honor to meet you my lord" she said
"grayfia is an experienced maid, and will continue to fulfill those duties in your service unless of course you order her otherwise, after seeing what you had to deal with, with misato i doubt you will order her to stop" serafall said
"so long as she is choosing to do it, no i probably wont tell her to stop" i said, serafall nodded
"now shinji, can i call you shinji" she asked, i nodded
"good, please call me serafall, normally i'd ask my friends to call me sera-tan, but being with your former guardian, i am well aware how much you like to be teased, and i want you you to listen to what i have to say, i'm gonna give you advice" she said
"okay" i said
"grayfia, is an exceedingly knowledgeable individual, she is here willingly of her own volition, i would recommend you make use of her knowledge and i hope eventually you come to trust her, as i have, as an honored friend, and maybe even more, she will be a member of your peerage after all" serafall said not being able to help herself with a little teasing, as she watched shinji blush profusely, and grayfia knock her on the back of the head
"that is no way to talk, lady leviathan" grayfia chastised
"sorry sorry, couldn't help myself, anyway, questions shinji" she asked
"there is seriously no strings attached to this place" i asked
"none, this house is a tad self-serving, i'd likely have done the same if it were my so-tan who volunteered, luckily she has no reason to do so, and so didn't" serafall said
"what do you mean" i asked
"i will explain when i introduce you to the other high-class devil, she is the one that spurned grayfia's decision, but that will be explained in a couple of weeks currently we are dealing with an angry noble, so i have to go it was good to see you" she said, as she portaled away, leaving me with grayfia
"uh hi" i said
"you need not be nervous, i have served and will continue to serve faithfully my lord" she said
"okay, do you want to get settled in" i asked
"i already have my lord, would you like me to help you pack your apartment so you can move in" she asked
"uh yeah, that be great" i said, she bowed, as she opened a portal to his apartment and the two got to packing, as they were doing so, there was a knock on the door
"visitors day it seems" i said, as i looked and grayfia who gestured for me to go see who it was and continued to neatly pack my belongings as i went to the door, i opened to reveal faces i hadn't seen a a couple of months
"toji, hikari, welcome, though you caught me at a bad time" i said
"what's going on" she asked
"i'm moving, i have also officially been dragged back to the NPA but at least misato is doing me a couple favors, so i don't stay there long" i said
"what happened" she asked
"devil shenanigans, i was the ideal candidate for a number of reasons, one of which being my designation as an EVA pilot" i said
"why was it you then, there's asuka, and rei, and if push comes to shove even toji here was an EVA pilot, for an extremely short amount of time but still" she said
"part of my candidacy was experienced EVA piloting i do sortie against a number of angels and a number evangelions, and other threats, i am by far the most experienced EVA pilot, but that is just one reason, another reason is the fact, i was the commander of NERV if for a short amount of time, the PLF of which i founded and led in a war for about a year, and the NPA itself for a short amount of time, i am sure there are other reasons as well, but long story short, all i really had to do is bond with this new unit the NPA built which is the successor of unit-01, feels more pleasant then unit-01 too, and put the fear of god into the world, to the point where my very name sends shivers down your spines, once i do that all i have to do is house two women, and i'm free" i said
"house two women" toji said, his eyebrow raised
"do you know about the devil peerages" i said
"yeah, the national governments, and the UN are throwing a fit about it" toji said, hikari nodded
"well, the solution, that aloud the devils to keep their status quo, was to choose a human, me, to accept a peerage of their own, and take two high-class devils into their service, apparently one of those devils serves as a maid" i said
"what do you mean" hikari asked, he opened the door to show grayfia in her maids uniform packing away in the living room
"any questions" i asked
"and she's doing this willingly" hikari asked
"i am told both high-class devils were volunteers, though i have a feeling a lot of drama will be coming with the other one, something serafall said rubbed me the wrong way" i said
"serafall, as in serafall leviathan" hikari asked
"apparently we're friends now, just became friends today, when serafall gave me advice about my new maid" i said
