good news was the governments of the various nations had stabilized, bad news they still had to deal with the BETA and the memetic beasts, good news for the world NERV was a very well resourced organization as is proofed by their headquarters being a massive spaceship, that could function in atmosphere

"i wanted to retire, you have made that effective impossible" i said

"sorry" she said quietly

"sir a team of TSF's request permission to come aboard" an officer said over comms

"for what purpose" i asked

"they said it was personal business" the officer said, i looked towards martica who shrugged unhelpfully, i sighed

"permission granted" i said, as i rose to my feet

"well let's go meet them" i said, getting a nod from the group as i led the way down to hanger bay two, where the TSFs were being brought in once they were locked in place shinji stood there as the pilots dismounted their machines, there was a silver blur as martica was captured in a hug

"MARTI" inia sestina said cutely, i let the smallest smile grace my lips as the one wearing gold walked up, she then saluted

"lieutenant yui takamura reporting sir" she said

"i am commander shinji ikari welcome aboard the wunder, i hope you didn't have a difficult journey" i said

"not at all sir" she said, as cryska walked up

"you were the one in the fubuki, that intervened after we pulled inia out" she said

"very good, miss barchenowa, that was indeed me, i did steal the fubuki, i didn't want to give my hand away by arriving in one of my other units, it wasn't the first time i bailed martica out of bad situations, and she has done quite well for herself, as the former CO and current XO of this ship" i said, her eyes widened having not known that little tidbit

"indeed" she said

"although that may be changing in the near future" i said giving the girl in question a glare, which was responded with by a sheepish downward look

"what is the purpose of your arrival lieutenant, i can guess the reason for these two, but why are you here" i asked

"because she is my escort" a blue haired woman said as she walked up 

"i am meiya mitsurugi, i speak for my sister the reigning shogun, who has retained her position through majority vote" she said

"i see, and why are you here" i asked

"my sister has asked that NERV takes over all military actions going forward for the nation of japan, we have seen your service record, both NERV's and the PLFs, and would prefer someone who has ample experience, solve this mess" she said

"i'm not sure if it is solvable, unless you mean the act of fighting the extraterrestrial threats" i said

"that is what i was intending, we already figured it would be nigh on impossible to separate our worlds once more, however we also see this as a good thing, since martica did what she did the balance of power has been drastically shifted into NERV's hands but still" she said then paused

"we believe with NERV's leadership we can deal with this situation quickly and cleanly, all resources of japan including manpower are at your disposal" she said

"unnecessary" i said

"what do you mean" she asked, i smirked

"i had a feeling one of the worlds martica was intending to cram together was her own, so i resurrected an old friend, i do not foresee either threat to survive for long" i said

"what did you do" she asked

"i brought lilith back brought nirvash too" i said

"bridge to commander ikari" comms called

"this is he, go ahead" i said

"sir you will want to report to the bridge, something is happening you will want to see" she said

"and there it is, an angel amplified seven swell" i said, as i smirked and we went to the bridge

"report" i ordered as i walked onto the bridge watching the sight of the seven swell unfold onscreen

"the BETA have all been wiped out, all that's left are the memetic beasts, who seemed to be immune to the purge" an officer said

"okay, and, those beasts were fought against by one maybe two machines at time, we have an army it will not take us long to wipe them out" i said

"sir, giant towers have also began to form around the world" an officer said

"have they been declared actively hostile or dangerous to the world at large" i asked

"not as of yet commander" came the response

"then not our problem, now maybe i can stay in retirement" i said mostly to myself
