The following weekend, JJK Group organized a company outing for the interns and some of the staff. The venue was a picturesque park just outside the city, chosen for its scenic beauty and recreational facilities. It was a chance for everyone to relax and bond outside the formal office environment.
The park was bustling with activity. There were picnic tables, a barbecue area, and various games set up for everyone to enjoy. Taehyung, Jimin, Seungchol, and the rest of the interns were mingling with the employees, engaging in friendly conversations and taking part in the games.
Jungkook, though still maintaining his usual composed demeanor, was present and interacting more casually with the interns. His attempts to connect on a more personal level were evident as he joined in on some of the activities. He laughed and played along with the group, his earlier tension softened by the relaxed atmosphere.
At one point, Taehyung found himself standing beside Jungkook near the edge of the park, overlooking a tranquil pond. They were both taking a break from the activities, enjoying the peaceful surroundings.
“Mr. Jeon, this place is beautiful,” Taehyung said, glancing around at the serene landscape. “It’s nice to see everyone letting loose and having fun.”
Jungkook nodded, his gaze following Taehyung’s. “Yes, it’s a good change of pace. It’s important to balance work with moments like these.”
The two shared a comfortable silence, their conversation fading as they took in the view. Taehyung’s heart raced as he glanced at Jungkook, the feelings he had been grappling with coming to the forefront. He was aware of the growing attraction, but he had been trying to manage it. The relaxed environment and Jungkook’s easy demeanor seemed to lower his guard.
In a moment of impulsive courage, Taehyung turned toward Jungkook and leaned in, capturing Jungkook’s lips in a sudden kiss. The action was driven by a mixture of longing and frustration, and Taehyung’s emotions were laid bare in that brief contact.
Jungkook’s reaction was immediate and visceral. His eyes widened in shock, and he stepped back, pushing Taehyung away with a forceful hand. “What are you doing?” Jungkook’s voice was harsh, laced with confusion and anger.
Taehyung, caught off guard by Jungkook’s reaction, stumbled back, his face flushed with embarrassment and regret. “I—I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have…”
Jungkook’s expression hardened as he struggled to process what had just happened. “This isn’t appropriate. You need to understand that this can’t happen. I’m your boss, and this kind of behavior is unacceptable.”
The words stung, and Taehyung’s eyes filled with a mixture of hurt and shame. “I didn’t mean to cross any lines. I just… I thought…”
Jungkook cut him off, his voice sharp. “You thought wrong. I need you to be professional. This is not the time or place for this.”
The tension was palpable as Jungkook turned on his heel, walking away from Taehyung. Taehyung stood there, his heart sinking with the weight of Jungkook’s words and the abrupt end to their brief moment of closeness.
As the afternoon wore on, the lively atmosphere of the park felt distant and muted. Taehyung struggled to regain his composure, finding it difficult to interact with the others. Jungkook, meanwhile, was visibly shaken, his earlier calm demeanor replaced by a tense and distant attitude.
The outing ended with a sense of unresolved tension hanging in the air. The casual interactions and friendly banter had been overshadowed by the unexpected and emotional confrontation between Jungkook and Taehyung. The consequences of that moment would ripple through their professional and personal interactions, setting the stage for further complexities in their relationship.
As the sun set and everyone headed back, the park’s serene beauty seemed to mock the turmoil that had unfolded. The journey ahead for both Jungkook and Taehyung promised to be fraught with challenges and discoveries, as they navigated the aftermath of their encounter and the shifting dynamics of their interactions.
