Siya rushed to her room, her heart pounding in her chest. Once inside, she locked herself in the bathroom, her mind racing as she frantically rubbed and washed her hands. Disgust pulsed through her veins, and tears blurred her vision as a panic attack overtook her.
Outside, Yashi, having meticulously gotten rid of Sayesha, was banging on the bathroom door, her voice filled with concern. "Siya, open the door! Please, Siya!" But there was no response from inside.
After what felt like an eternity, Siya splashed water on her face and finally opened the door. Yashi rushed in and held her tightly, her eyes widening at the sight of Siya's red, swollen, and bruised hands.
"Pagal ho gayi hai kya tu? Kitni chot lagi hai tujhe… kya soch rahi thi tu?" Yashi's voice wavered with a mix of fear and anger.
After a moment, Siya slowly raised her eyes, her voice small and vulnerable as she asked, "Can I keep my head on your lap, please? Thodi der ke liye bas.”
She helped Siya to the bed, letting her lay her head on her lap.

When Siya woke up, the sun had passed its zenith, and the room was quiet. Yashi was lying beside her, a large packet of chips beside her.Siya was guilty as she realized Yashi had missed lunch because of her. She gently adjusted Yashi’s position on the bed, her thoughts clouded with self-reproach.
Standing in front of the mirror, Siya stared at her reflection, hardly recognizing the person she had become. Her eyes were swollen, her cheeks pale, and dried tears stained her face. She sighed deeply, gathering herself before washing her face and applying some creams, trying to wipe away the remnants of her breakdown.
Just as she was finishing, the maid hired by Jaya appeared, “Jaya ma'am told you to come downstairs in half an hour, well dressed.”
Confusion flickered across Siya’s face. Why would Jaya want her well-dressed at this hour? Dismissing the thought, Siya decided not to change, feeling there was nothing wrong with what she was wearing. Yashi, now half-awake and curious, followed her downstairs.

The moment Siya stepped into the room, Jaya snapped her gaze towards her, anger flickering in her eyes before she quickly masked it with a sugary smile. “Are, meri bacchi aa gayi… aao beta, sab intezaar kar rahe hain tumhara,” Jaya cooed, her voice laced with false sweetness.
Siya and Yashi exchanged a bewildered glance, Yashi muttering, “Meri need complete nahi hui hai shayad, am still hallucinating… ye ulti ganga kaise behne lagi bhai?”
Jaya took Siya’s hand gently, guiding her into the room. As they moved closer to the guests, Siya noticed a man slightly older than Arun, with an authoritative presence. Beside him sat a woman with a warm, genuine smile. Arun, seated on the other side, looked concerned, while Sanjay’s expression made it clear he wasn’t fond of their visitors.
As Siya neared them, the woman rose and embraced her, holding her face in her hands before placing a kiss on her forehead. “Waah, bilkul Aastha ki chabbi ho tum…”
Recognition flickered in Siya’s mind—this was the same aunty who had consoled her during the worst time of her life, after her parents’ death.
Siya greeted them, her voice soft, “Namaste uncle, namaste aunty,” as she bent to touch their feet, but Anjana stopped her gently.
Siya greeted them, her voice soft, “Namaste uncle, namaste aunty,” as she bent to touch their feet, but Anjana stopped her gently.
“Betiyan pair nahi chhuti beta,” Anjana said, smiling kindly.
Angad mirrored her smile, nodding in approval. They made Siya sit between them, and Yashi joined on her other side. They asked Siya about her studies and life, with genuine interest in their voices.
Suddenly, the atmosphere changed. The door creaked open, and a tall, imposing figure entered. His presence commanded attention, and his aura was almost tangible. Siya’s breath hitched as she turned to see the man who had just walked in.
Raghuveer Shastri, his broad shoulders carrying an air of authority, strode into the room, ending a phone call as he did so. His deep-set eyes scanned the room briefly before they landed on Siya. He had a rugged handsomeness, with a chiseled jawline and a serious demeanor that made everyone in the room fall silent…
(Uhmm uhmm… Finally he is here, sparkles ✨️)
Angad introduced him with pride, “Here he is, my elder son, Raghuveer Shastri.”
