Carly's POV

I don't have many friends at school honestly most people make fun of and bully me. They constantly make comments about my weight, the way I dress, or the fact that my voice is super high. This has led to some not-so-good coping mechanisms such as not eating, but I do have one friend who is always in my corner. She always defends me, she will walk me to my classes so no one bothers me, and she will even walk me home when I don't have work. She was the first person to notice that something was wrong and immediately started researching to find ways to help me. She is my best friend, but recently I started feeling like maybe there is something more there. I don't know I have never felt the way she makes me feel and normally I would talk to her about it, but I don't want to make her uncomfortable or scare her off.

"Carly," Emily said knocking me out of my thoughts. I was waiting outside the school so we could go to our first period together.

"You ok? You seemed a million miles away just now." Emily asked concern growing on her face.

"Yeah, I'm fine. Let's go before we are late," I said with a smile grabbing her hand and dragging her to our class. As the day went on I couldn't stop thinking about Emily. I didn't know what else to do so I texted the only other person I felt comfortable talking about this with.

Carly

Hey, are you busy? I really needed to talk to you.

Char

No, I am not. The girls are with their dad. Want me to pick you up after school?

Carly

Yes, please see you soon.

Char

See you soon

There were only 20 minutes left in class. I didn't have work today so I know Emily is going to be waiting for me. This thought made me smile. Anytime I think about her I can't help but smile. 20 minutes pass and when I walk out I see Em waiting for me outside my classroom.

"Hey, you ready to go home?" she asked linking her arm with mine and I couldn't help but feel the heat rise to my face as we walked out of the school. I immediately spot Char's car.

"Actually, I have a friend picking me up she needs some help watching her kids while she cleans" I lied.

"Oh, ok I'll see you tomorrow then," she said sounding a little disappointed. I climb into Char's car and we set off. We drove in silence for about 8 minutes before Char asked "So, what's wrong?"

"Can we talk when we get to your place?" I ask picking at my nails nervously.

"Sure," she said smiling at me. We pulled up to her house and went inside. Char led me to the living room sitting me on the couch.

"What's up?" She asked

"I- When- How" I tried but I didn't know where to start.

"It's ok Carly take your time and know you are safe here," She said putting her hand on my knee.

"How did you- How did you know you were into Mia?" I finally got out.

"Well, first I couldn't stop thinking about her, even though I knew everything she had done I still wanted to be near her, I wanted to find out anything and everything I could about her, but what really drew me to her was the day I got her fired. I know that sounds bad, but the conversation after everything went down showed me that she wasn't the bad things she did she was actually a really kinda and caring person and I realized that I wanted to get to know that person. Why are you asking me this?" she asked giving me a confused look.

"Well, I have this friend and I think I might have feelings for them. I just don't want to ruin our friendship. Honestly, they are the best person I know and I couldn't live without them. Like, what if I tell them and they don't feel the same or worse they leave," I was starting to spiral. Char noticed and stopped me. "Whoa, let's take a breath," she said making me look her in the eye before she continued "Now, I couldn't help but notice you were using gender-neutral terms while talking about your friend. Want to tell me why that is,". Char was like a sister to me and like a sister she could tell when I was not telling her the whole truth and she normally knew why too.

"I think you already know," I whispered.

"I think I do too, but why don't you tell me anyway," she said squeezing my knee to let me know that everything was going to be ok.

"It's because it's a girl. I like a girl"

"And would this girl happen to be Emily?" she questioned. I looked down at my lap fidgeting with my hands nodding my head. I couldn't bring myself to say it out loud. It would make it real.

"Carly, it's going to be ok. Why does it scare you so much? Are you scared of how people will react if they knew you had feelings for a girl?" she asked.

"No, I don't care about that. Honestly, I have always thought I could be Bi or even Pan I just never had crushes on anyone other than boys so I didn't put too much thought into it. No, what terrifies me is the fact that it's Em. She is my best friend She is the reason I can brave going to school every day. She is the reason I actually look forward to going every morning and I don't know what I would do if she didn't want to be around me anymore because of this." I explained looking back up with tears now flowing from my eyes.

"Oh, sweet girl, I see the way you two are together. You both love each other immensely and I see the way she looks at you like you hung the moon. I don't think you have to worry about her not feeling the same. You should talk to her let her know how you're feeling and see what she thinks." Char said gently rubbing my knee.

"You really think I have a chance?" I ask.

"Have you seen the way Winter looks at Autumn or Reece looks at Marjorie or Mia looks at me? Like we are the most important person in their world and would do anything to make us feel loved, happy, and safe." Char asked locking her eyes with mine.

"Yeah," I said not really knowing where she was going with this.

"That's the way she looks at you. You are the most important person in her world. When she noticed your eating disorder she researched for days on how to help you. She walks you to all your classes just to make sure no one bullies or hurts you and when they do she immediately comes to your defense. On the days you don't work she walks you home and on the days you do she stays up and calls you after your shift to make sure you get home safe. She is the person you call in the middle of the night when you are having a rough time and she comes running every time. If that's not love I don't know what is and I know you do the same for her, so just go talk to her," Char finishes.

"You're right I'm going to go talk to her now," I said getting up and walking to the door before stopping and turning back around to Char "Can you give me a ride to her house?" I asked.

"Of course, come on," she giggled.

A/N: I'm going to end it there. This was mainly focused on Carly and Charlotte's friendship but let me know if you would like a part to. Also, I'm thinking about starting a story centered around Carly along the same lines as this let me know if anyone would interested in that as well.
