No matter how hard Sage kept trying to sleep, she couldn't. Carol sobbed beside her, causing Kaylee Jo to watch the tears stream down her face. She really wanted for Sophia to be found. God only knew how her family would feel if it was Kaylee Jo instead of Sophia. That was another reason why she wanted to look for Sophia.

Even though Kaylee Jo didn't know Carol for so long, she was the one who watched over her while her mother went out hunting. One time, she overheard her mother talking to her brothers by saying that it was convenient since she had another girl to be with. Kaylee Jo wasn't stupid though. She tended to keep certain things to herself since she knew her mother never wanted her to hear them.

It was just like when she overheard, "I'm gonna walk the road. Look for the girl."

She knew it was her Uncle Daryl before her mother spoke, "I'm coming too."

When Kaylee Jo brought her head up to take a quick peek at them, she saw that Andrea was asleep as her mother was careful not to wake her by grabbing her gear. It wasn't until when she saw her uncle's head move, that she quickly brought her head back to her pillow and shut her eyes, hoping that he didn't notice. As soon as her mother told her brother to go, Kaylee Jo rose her head again and waited until they left before she got up herself.

Looking back at Carol one last time, she promised silently that she was going to help find her daughter as she got out of bed. She put on her sneakers and tied them. She already had her jacket on, but she zipped it up so that she wouldn't get cold at night. Her feet took one step at a time before reaching Andrea, and Kaylee Jo froze when she saw Andrea's gun lying on the table.

A gun would be useful to have, but the problem was that Kaylee Jo never used a gun before. She still didn't understand why her mother didn't allow her uncles to teach her when the outbreak started. Still, she knew it was better to have a weapon than nothing at all. Gathering up her courage, she took small breaths with her heart pounding against her chest as her hand reached forward to grab the gun while carefully trying not to wake up Andrea.

It was a lot heavier than she remembered when Merle gave her one. Then again, the one Uncle Merle handed her was a lot smaller. Sage thought she would have been alright with it until her mother took it away from her. She even started yelling at her brother by reprimanding him for giving her daughter a gun when it wasn't his decision. Kaylee Jo just stood by her Uncle Daryl's side as they watched the two going at it until Sage had the last word by reminding him that she wasn't his daughter before grabbing Kaylee Jo's hand and going on ahead with both Uncle Daryl and Uncle Merle trailing behind them.

Seeing that she was still asleep, Kaylee Jo clutched onto the gun and headed outside. Her mother and her Uncle Daryl were almost a yard away from her, so she slowly followed them by ducking behind the cars until she heard, "Kaylee Jo, what are you doing?" She gasped and looked up to see Dale on top of the RV. "Sage. Daryl."

Before Kaylee Jo knew it, they rushed back to her. Her mother never looked so furious before when she saw her own daughter out with a gun in her hand except for that one time when she ran towards an ice cream truck driving away from her neighborhood while her mother was showering. This was a lot different though as her mother rushed back with her brother and her mother's lips parted in shock when she laid eyes on Kaylee Jo. Even her Uncle Daryl stood there in stunned silence when he saw her.

It wasn't until when her mother noticed the gun in her hand as she snatched it back from her and grabbed her shoulder while showering her the gun as she asked her firmly, "Where'd you get this?" Kaylee Jo didn't want to tell her the truth, so she looked away only for her mother to grab her, causing her eyes to snap back. "Look at me when I'm talking to you."

Kaylee Jo shrugged her mother off and gave her attitude. "I found it, okay?"

Her mother then looked back at the gun, and Kaylee Jo knew she was going to be in for it when her mother told her off, "Do you think I'm an idiot, huh? This isn't your gun."
