chapter 8

bella's pov

The Cullen's aren't normal. There is something going on with them, something that they're not telling the rest of the school. Something they're not telling me. I deserve to know.

Sitting at my desk, I pull out the book I got from the library, stopping at a page with a mask on it.

" C O L D  O N E "

"Cold one." I muttered, closing the book and opening my laptop. Through all this research, I feel like I'm getting closer to their secret. I feel like they were giving me hints because they want me to know, but to keep it a secret from everyone else.

Why else would Edward and Logan be in love with me?

My mind suddenly went to when Edward saved me from Tyler's van. I know he stopped it with just his hands.

Cold - skinned

Back to the car ride after I got attacked by those guys, when Edward and I touched hands. He was ice cold.

Immortal

Drank blood

Vampire

I got it. The Cullen's are mine.

devan's pov

The next day at school, I felt like something was gonna happen. I saw Isabella pull into the parking lot in a hurry and get out of her rusty truck. Why do I feel like she knows something?

Once she saw Edward, she booked it toward him, pushing me out of her way, making Logan hold me close and scowling at her. I thought she was gonna talk to Edward, but all she did was look at him and walk into the woods behind the school.

Yeah ok, walk into the woods alone after there's been killings. Smart move- oh wait the brooding bitch is following her. "Fuck, she knows." Logan mumbled, his jaw clenching in agitation. I turned to my boyfriend, "how would she know?"

"How wouldn't she know? Edward basically gave her all the hints! She's a nosy piece of shit that shouldn't even be in our business! If she thinks knowing will get her better treatment, I'm calling the Volturi."

Volturi?

Sensing my confusion, Logan pulled me over to his car, leaning on the hood and holding me close to him. "The Volturi is like our... presidents, you could say. Our kings. They inforce the laws for us so we're kept a secret and safe. They may seem intense, but they have our kinds best interest at heart. They even asked me to join them a couple years back. But I told them that I would like to find my mate first before I decided anything. And they gladly approved of it. Caius, one of the kings, is like a father to me, and his wife Athenadora is like my mother. I miss them."

I smiled at Logan, "I would love to meet them one day! They sound really important to you lovely." My vampire smiled gently at me and kissed my forehead, "I would love for you to meet them, I know they will love you."

logan's pov

I was serious about calling the Volturi. Carlisle, Esme and Edward have gone out of hand. Allowing a blood singer to live, just because Edward thinks that she's his mate. There's a difference between being lonely and being delusional.

Carlisle isn't fit to be a leader. He chooses favorites, he lets a child make decisions for HIS coven, not caring if the rest of us are against it. We're sick and tired of it. Alice, Jasper, Emmett, Rosalie, and I have been talking. Since Devan will be moving in with me, we were all thinking of starting a new coven and getting a house together. And they all voted me of being the leader, which I wasn't opposed to. I have a history of being a leader.

They also told me they want to slowly be introduced to the human blood diet, and I supported them all the way. But that won't be for a while, we have to deal with a human first.

I felt a small hand rub my stomach, soothing my thoughts. I looked down to see Devan with his chin on my chest, looking up at me with a small smile, "calm down my love, I can feel you tensing up. You don't have to worry about anything as long as we're together. I love you."

My eyes brightened, I felt like my heart was beating again. Whenever I'm with Devan, I feel more human. He makes me feel safe.

"I love you to cara mia. So much." Sensing Edward and Isabella will be gone all day, I led Devan to class, as we share it. I could feel all my siblings emotions, even if I don't have Jasper's ability. I could just see it on their faces, we were all livid.

devan's pov

Well apparently Isabella knows, she made sure to text me "i know something about the Cullen's you don't."

What a petty bitch. I rolled my eyes and threw my phone on Logan's bed, well, more like our bed. He drove us back to his place after school. Isabella and Edward were gone all day, never even showed up to school. Thank goodness. I can't stand the constant glares of my sister and her boy toy. Although it's easy to keep Edward out of my mind, I just think about sucking Logan's dick and Edward is off my ass for the whole day.

"Come on baby, time for bed." My tall, sexy vampire said, with a towel around his waist as he just came out of the shower. His back hair was brushed back, allowing me to see his dark red eyes, his abs sculpted by the gods, the water dripping down to the towel-

"Babe, hello? You hear me?" Oh man, he has clothes on again. Sad. I sighed sadly and laid down in bed, cuddling the Oggie Boogie Squishmallow Rosalie got me the other day. Logan was all pouty that he wasn't the only one giving me gifts, even more pouty when Rose joked about her being my sugar mommy.

Logan didn't like that. My ass paid the price that night. So worth it. Snapping out of my thoughts, I looked to Logan who was in pajamas, which consisted of a AC/DC cropped tee and sweatpants. Ugh I love men in crop tops (a.n. i'm such a simp for men in crop tops). "I heard you, just lost in thought."

Logan laid down in bed, pulling my back to his chest, making me the small spoon. "What were you thinking about cara mia?" I shrugged, hugging Oggie closer to me, "just how things are gonna change now that Isabella knows what you and your family are. She's gonna involve herself a lot more than she already has been. I don't want her to drive you guys away-"

"Hey, none of that. She will not drive us away from you. Drive ME away from you. You are my mate, the love of my life, my lifelong partner. No human is gonna change that. I love you so much, and I can't wait to spend eternity with you."

I smiled, tears in my eyes, "I can't wait to spend eternity with you as well my love."

logan's pov

Seeing Devan fast asleep, I carefully let go of him, made sure he didn't wake up, then left my room. I saw the family in the living room, Edward talking to Carlisle happily. "She accepts me for who I am! That's only what a mate would do." I scoffed, rolling my eyes.

Carlisle turned to me, judgement and disgust in his eyes, "do you have something to say, son?" I scrunched up my nose, "first, don't call me son, the only one who gets to do that is Caius and Athenadora. Second, yes I do have something to say. It's so obvious Isabella is just using Edward to get closer to immortality and to me. She's obsessed with me. She wants to take Devan's place. And I won't let that happen."

Edward growled and walked over to me, Emmett moving closer to my side incase something broke out, "she is MY mate, she doesn't like you, she's not using me Logan. Not everyone wants you, not everyone likes you, you feed off of humans like a monster. Your red eyes terrify everyone, our gold ones make people interested. Soon, that little boyfriend of your's will see you for the monster you truly are, and will leave you for someone better."

Why did his words... hurt? I never let anything Edward say get to me. But him mentioning Devan leaving me because I'm a monster, just hit something in me. Rosalie and Alice, sensing my confusion, hurt and panic, rushed over to my side and grabbed my hands, rushing us outside. The last thing I heard was Emmett and Jasper yelling at Edward, Carlisle and Esme.
