Newt's POV
I had gone to bed without thinking that I would see my soulmate again via a dream.
I was tired and actually wanted a full night's sleep. So when I woke up in the paradise wonderland, to say I was surprised is an understatement.
So I just stood and stared at the view in front of me. That's when I felt a presence behind me.
I turned around and saw my soulmate yelp and fall backward on his back. I had to hold back a chuckle at his clumsiness.
I watched as he had his eyes shut. Was he... embarrassed? I shook my head at that thought.
"You alright, mate?" I asked, and I swear i saw him tense up slightly.
"Uh y-yeah, I'm fine." He said quietly.
"You can open your eyes, you know, I won't murder you." I chuckled.
He did, and I observed him for a few seconds. He had beautiful brown eyes.
I held my hand out to help him up. When he took my hand and stood up, there was an awkward silence. We were just staring at each other.
Eventually, we were sitting down and telling each other about ourselves. About our lives.
And then I felt a rush to my head, and I was back in my room. I was slightly disappointed, but I took my journal and wrote down what happened in the dream.
As I was writing, I felt a slight pain on my wrist. I sighed and shook my hand, hoping to get the pain to go away.
I then checked the time and sighed, slightly annoyed. I had to get ready for school.
After getting ready and cursing my wrist for the constant ache, I headed to the kitchen for some breakfast.
My dad was already eating, and he gave me a quizzical look when he saw the annoyed look on my face.
"Everything alright, Newt?" He asked.
I sighed and sat down at the table, taking some bread and jam and making myself toast.
"Everything's great." I mumbled.
My dad arched an eyebrow at my response, clearly surprised I was in such a bad mood today.
"You sure? You seem off today. Annoyed, even. You know you can talk to me, right?"
I sighed and put my knife down rather harshly. I winced slightly at the noise it made as it hit the table harshly.
"I'm fine. I met my soupmate via dream two nights ago, saw him again last night when I actually needed a good night's sleep, and now my wrist hurts like hell." I said in an annoyed tone.
My dad visibly paused.
"You said you met your soulmate? Why didn't you tell me?"
I stared at my toast, which was untouched.
"I was still processing it. The fact that I had met him."
My dad almost choked on his food.
"Hold on a minute. You said... him?"
I stared at my dad, confused.
"Yeah... is there a problem with that?"
My dad wasn't listening, though. He was mumbling things about how this must be some sort of mistake or something.
That just made me confused. So I got up and went to school. I couldn't stay in the house any longer with my dad acting this way.
When I got to school, I was swarmed by my friends. They demanded I explain to them why I avoided them yesterday.
I rolled my eyes at that.
"I met my soulmate in a dream."
They all seemed to pause for a moment.
"You met your soulmate? Who is it?" My friend Winston asked.
"Does she go here? Do we know her?"
My other friend Harriet asked. My other friends—Chuck, Alby, Sonya, and Teresa— were all just standing there, awaiting an answer impatiently.
"That's none of your business. But yes, he does go here."
Teresa sputtered. "Y-you said he? As in- a boy?"
I stared at her. She seemed... disgusted.
"Is there a problem with that?" I asked, annoyed.
I took a step towards her.
"Yes, there's a problem with that. Don't you guys see that it's unnatural for two guys to be together-"
She was cut off by Alby, but I wasn't listening. I was seething on the inside. I never thought Teresa was like this.
Not once did I think she would ever act like this. Ever. I thought she was accepting of everyone. Clearly, I was wrong.
Teresa then asked me a question I really didn't want to answer.
"What's his name?" She demanded.
I sighed again. It seemed like that was all I did all morning.
I really didn't want to answer because things would only get worse. I only just realized that my soulmate was her crush.
"Well?" She crossed her arms and awaited an answer.
I was about to answer when I saw him. He was talking to his friend, and they seemed to be laughing at something he said.
Teresa saw who I was staring at, and she stormed off with an annoyed scoff.
My friend group just stood there, unsure of what to do.
I just walked away to go and talk to Thomas. But the bell rang, and I had to get to class.
I decided I'd talk to him at lunch. Yeah, that should do.
I went to class and started to take notes as the teacher started talking.
A/N:
Guess who's back? Yeah, I know, it's been a while. My life got really busy really fast, and I just didn't have any motivation to write this book.
But I'm back with some ideas for the book, essentially some drama because I live for that.
I know that the book may seem a little weird and not written right, especially with this chapter, as it is a little all over the place, but please bear with me. It will get better, I promise.
