Hannah was Monica Gallahger's niece.
Her parents died when she was younger and Monica became her legal guardian, so she moved in with the Gallahgers.
Everyone in the house saw her as as one of the siblings, which meant she was as neglected as the others.

Hannah was on the couch, watching Tv with Carl as Ian and Mandy Milkovich entered the house.

Hannah didn't really like Mandy, or anyone from the Milkovich family for multiple reasons: They were loud, dirty, rude, and most importantly racist.
Many times, Hannah had things thrown at her when passing by their house because of the colour of her skin.

All of this led to her leaving the living room to go up her room; well, her and Debbie's room.
Suddenly she heard Fiona yelling:
"Who did what to Mandy Milkovich?!"

Hannah heard footsteps coming up the stairs.
"Ian, the fuck did you do?!" Hanna approached him while laughing

"Nothing!" He tried convincing her

"Yeah, sure..." she replied, not believing her cousin

"I swear!" He said

"You're telling me Mandy Milkovich, the girl that every guy wants to do, was on your couch and you didn't try anything??!"

"Yes!" He shouted

"Bullshit."

Ian dragged her inside his room, looking for some privacy.

"Hannah, I'm gay." He whispered

Needless to say, she was taken aback by his statement.
Sure Ian wasn't much of a stud but she thought that's because he had already too much on his plate with school, ROTC and work.

While Hannah was processing the information, Ian was desperately waiting for a reaction.
"Are you going to say something or what??"
He whisper-yelled

"You are?" She asked

"Yup."

"Since when did you know?"

"Since forever, I guess..."

"Does anybody else know?"

"Lip does."

"WAIT YOU TOLD LIP AND NOT ME?" She yelled at him

"He kind of found out..."
He then explained the whole Karen Jackson situation, which was even more shocking than the previous news.

A day later Hannah Lip and Karen were walking on the street after Lip took the SAT
for another kid.

Hannah noticed Mandy's brothers walking towards them.

"Shit. Milkoviches heading our way." Hannah warned the other two

"Hey, yo!" The one in the middle; Mickey, yelled.

"What do they want?" Lip asked
