ALLIE MOORE

"Take a right"

"No it's left!"

"Allie could you-"

"On it!" I yell towards the front of the SUV.

It seems I have been appointed 'map checker'. Probably because I'm one of the only person in this vehicle whose attention span lasts long enough to check our location on a map.

"It's a left!" I confirm

"Told you!" James said as he pointed at his twin sister.

"Shut up James!" Shouted Veronica.

"Aw come on ronnie, just admit you're wrong" chimed Matthew.

"Matt, you know that's just impossible for our little Ronnie"

that voice came from the couch on the other side of the SUV, and it belonged to my best friend in the whole world, Lisa Goldwell.

She had long blonde hair and bright blue eyes. She was smart and kind and honestly pretty perfect. Everyone's jealous of her and sometimes i am too. She came from a very rich and powerful family, that controlled half the town. Her dad is a senator and I don't think her mom ever had a job. Lisa assured me that it was her mother's choice though.

Matt chuckled with a huge grin plastered on his face.
Matthew, or Matt as we called him, had blonde fluffy hair and light brown eyes. Although he was charming and funny, Matt was a bit of a playboy. And he didn't really care for his grades. Like at all. Which is stupid since coach told him if he didn't get his grades up he would be off the basketball team. But I wouldn't be the one to tell him that.

We were sitting at the table next to the window. Matt was facing away from James and Veronica who were up at the front. Poor him, he was missing all the sibling drama.

"shush you!" yelled Veronica.

Matthew, Lisa and I erupted laughter only to be interrupted by the sound of the bathroom door opening.

"What are three laughing about?" Asked Ethan as he sat down beside me.

"just Ronnie being Ronnie" Lisa smiled as she applied lipstick while looking at herself in her small travel mirror.

As Ethan talked to Matthew I couldn't help but take a notice to his features.

Ethan Jones was tall. Taller than Matthew. He had dark brown eyes, brunette hair and glasses. He was a lot like me. Introverted, a big reader and he liked music too. He plays basketball with Matt and joined in sophomore year but we all like him. He fits. That might just be my opinion though.

He then turns to me and obviously saw me look at him so I quickly looked in another direction, but I could feel the redness in my cheeks.

"The Bell Jar, hm?"

I turned to look at him again and those brown eyes locked with mine.

"Sorry?"

"The book, your reading it?"

I completely forgot about the book in front of me on the table, I had started reading right after we got on the SUV but after the first hour I had gotten distracted and had put it back down. I was admiring the trees that were passing by us on the highway. Sometimes I could just stare at-

"Allie?"

"Oh yes, sorry." I fumbled with the sleeve of my jumper as I began talking.

"Uhm yeah, I'm reading it but I'm loosing motivation to pick it up again." I smiled nervously.

"It's a good book, I think you'd like it. Plus if you wanna go to Yale it's the book to read"

"yeah?"

"Yeah." He smiled at me, his dimples fully showing.

I never really knew I liked dimples on boys till I met Ethan. I never even thought about boys at all. I had kissed a few boys but nothing more than that. I was focused on my studies, I wouldn't let boys, or a boy, distract me. But oh my, Ethan Jones. He would be the ruin of me.

"Enough of the flirting please!" Matt said, covering his face with his hands. " just make out already."

My cheeks were burning now.

"Can you shush please?" I asked.

"I'm calling it now, you two totally have the hots for eachother and one day you're gonna fuck and im gonna say I told you so."

"Matt, were you dropped on your head as a child?" Lisa asked, tilting her head sideways and looking at Matthew in utter confusion.

"As a matter of fact, yes."

"Not surprising" Ethan chimed in, smiling once more.

"Guys!" James shouted from the front. "10 hours left and then it's time for summer lovin!"

"Ew, James don't say that." Veronica said as she made her way down the aisle towards us.

"Why you gotta ruin my vibe? How would you like me to phrase it, sister?"

"How about 10 hours till we're in Florida?"

Lisa, Matt, Ethan and I started clapping and celebrating loudly.

"You're on her side with this?" James screamed. "Fine screw all of you, if any of you drown at the beach I'm just gonna walk right past you. Not even spare you a glance"

we all started laughing because come on, how could you not?

"This is not funny." Jamie added.
