ALLIE MOORE

"So, start from the beginning."  A man that introduced himself as Detective Rodriguez sat across from us in the interrogation room, with a woman named Detective Monroe.

"Who are you talking to, detective?" Matt asked, leaning back in his seat. "There's 5 of us after all, and I'm quite sure if you asked all of us to explain, it would be very loud."

Detective Rodriguez narrowed his eyes at Matt but challenged him.
"Why don't you talk first, Davis." He said his last name like a threat, but Matt knows better than to fall for that police bullshit. He's been arrested enough times to know (which his parents always bailed him out of with no consequences because he's filthy rich).

"Alright." Matt straightens himself on the chair. "Where do I start?" He mumbles.

"Tell us about how you guys came up with the idea of a roadtrip." Detective Monroe chimed.

"Sure" Matthew dragged out the last letter, because why not?

"We were at Jamie's and Ronnie's place. In the living room watching Friends or Modern Family or something. And-" he stopped as confusion filled his face.

"you okay?" I whispered in his ear.

"I don't remember?"

"Sorry?" Detective R. said

"I- uhm. I don't remember. It was a while ago. And my memory's not the best."

"Right." Detective R looked pleased, like he made Matt feel small. Which he probably did.
Matt was really insecure about being smart at stuff mainly because most of us were and...he wasn't. Probably why him and Ronnie are so close. They both failed sophomore maths together.

"Do any of you wanna say anything? Now's your chance." Detective R warned.

no one said anything.

"I think it would be better if you interviewed us individually" Ethan spoke. "Some people might not want to admit secrets in front of everyone" Ethan looked at Jamie.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Jamie crossed his arms over his chest.

"Nothing." Ethan replied softly, without the venom in his voice that James clearly had.

"You're not running this operation, Jones" Rodriguez said. "So-"

"So I think you're right, Ethan!" Detective Monroe interrupted him and placed her hand on his.
"Who wants to go first?"

"I will."

After 5 minutes of getting everyone to calm down, and 3 minutes to get everyone out, I was finally alone with the two detectives.

While my attention should be directed at the officers, I couldn't help but stare at the mirror, which was obviously a two way. Maybe Ethan was looking back at me.

what is wrong with me? I'm being interviewed by officers asking questions about my dead friend and all I can think about is a guy. Right now would be the time to scream into a pillow.
