It was night, midnight right now in Japan. Inside the home, Y/N was in bed with Mariko, both covered in sheets, her covering up to her chest and Y/N a bit over his stomach, though she was on her side, showing her back to Y/N who was still slightly awake, also without his eye patch. Y/N slightly looks at her shoulder, putting a hand on it, though Mariko slowly grabs his hand and pulls his arm slightly, wrapping his arm over her, practically leaving Y/N hugging her naked body, at least what's exposed of it.

Mariko slightly hummed in her sleep, as Y/N sighed extremely calmly, he was definitely tired, the events before going to sleep... he had never been this tired, and drained, Mariko was also like him, regarding how drained and tired she was as well.

Mariko: (whispering) You're still awake.

Y/N: (whispering) Yeah.

Mariko: (whispering) Are you okay?

Y/N: (whispering) Yeah. Just... happy, I guess.

Mariko chuckled slightly, as she grabbed his hand, crossing her fingers with his, while smiling.

Y/N: (whispering) I feel you don't want this to end.

Mariko: (whispering) I do not.

Y/N: (whispering) But we both know about your fiancé, and your father, he would never agree an outsider be with you... especially a Mutant.

Mariko: (whispering) I know, and till my grandfather's will is read, he will hold power over me.

Y/N slightly tightened the grip on Mariko's hand, sighing, to him this all felt unreal to him. She caressed his knuckles, where his claws would come out, smiling a little bit.

Mariko: I still remember the stories grandfather would say about Kuzuri, that's what they called you here. To us you were a legend, a myth, to him, his protector and savior. He described you as an animal, thinking you would be a monster, a destroyer, with your claws and tenacity, he said when Kuzuri was imprisoned, he never tried to run away or escape, he let them punish him. He never attacked or killed anyone, until the bomb in Nagasaki, Kuzuri acted, and saves my grandfather, even when they kept punishing him for the attacks.

Y/N: Smart words from your old man, but I'm no protector, nor a hero if that's what he saw in me.

Mariko: Even then, you saved him, because of you, the Yashida live still, because of you, so many people are protected and safe, because of you, the Yami No Te have stopped their attack, like the books he showed me, where many heroes come from mystical lands, Kuzuri was on ours, protecting the land, protecting men and enforcing good on the world.

Y/N said nothing, looking to the bed sheets, as Mariko slowly turned around, looking directly at Y/N's eye who sighed.

Mariko: I suppose you still don't consider yourself a good man.

Y/N: No. Stories are made to make people believe in something, and the stories your grandfather said was from his point of view. I only saved him, because I could see the fear in him, he didn't want to be in the war, he was afraid of it, unlike many who were willing to die for their country, your grandfather didn't, he wanted to live, not for his country, but for his family, he wanted the war to end and return to his family. I've taken to many families in the past, because of my own presence, if I could save one person, so he can return to his family... then that would be the least I could do.

Mariko: You still saved him, you were his hero, his protector. To everyone you were an animal, brutal and untamed but to him you were a warrior.

Y/N said nothing after that, as Mariko slowly puts a hand on his cheek, which he puts his over hers then.
