"जोगिया जोग लगाके
मखरा रोग लगा के
इश्क़ कि धुनि रोज़ जलाए
उठता धुंआ तो कैसे छुपाए"The night was dark and heavy with rain. Thunder rumbled in the distance, and the streets of Mumbai glistened with the downpour. Ishita stood under the canopy of a small shop, drenched but trying to keep her composure. She was in a purple kurti, the vibrant color stark against the gray backdrop of the storm. Her phone was glued to her ear as she repeatedly called Neha, her colleague, who wasn't answering.
"I know the office is closed, but I don't know what else to do," Ishita said, frustration clear in her voice. "I've locked myself out of my apartment, and I don't have a spare key. Bhai kya gadhi hu yaar mai."
As she paced back and forth, trying to stay warm and dry under the small shelter, her gaze fell on a car approaching. To her surprise, it was Dhruv's car. He was driving slowly, his eyes scanning the street for something.
When Dhruv noticed her standing there, he pulled over. Stepping out of the car, he approached Ishita, shielding himself with an umbrella.
"Ishita? What are you doing out here in this weather?" Dhruv's voice was filled with concern.
Ishita turned, and smiled sheepishly. "I...I kinda locked myself out of my apartment, and I've been trying to reach Neha. The office is closed, and I don't know what to do."
Dhruv's brow furrowed. "It's late, and it's pouring out here. You can't stay out like this. How about you come over to my place until the rain stops or you can figure out a solution?"
Ishita hesitated, feeling a bit awkward about imposing. "I don't want to bother you, Dhruv. I'm sure you've got your own plans."
"Ishita," Dhruv insisted, his tone firm but warm. " Time toh dekho. It's not safe for you to be out here alone at this time of night. I'm not letting you stay here in the rain. Come on, get in the car."
Reluctantly, Ishita agreed, and Dhruv helped her into the passenger seat, making sure she was comfortable. The drive to his place was quick, the rain pounding against the windows as they chatted lightly to keep the mood upbeat.
When they arrived at Dhruv's house, he guided her inside and handed her a white shirt. "I don't have much to offer you right now, but this shirt should be more comfortable than that wet kurti. You can change in the guest room."
Ishita took the shirt, feeling a surge of gratitude. "Thank you, Dhruv. I really appreciate this."
After Ishita changed into the shirt, she joined Dhruv in the kitchen where he was busy preparing dinner. The aroma of spices and freshly cooked food filled the air. Ishita took a seat at the dining table, watching him cook with a mix of curiosity and admiration.
"Kya bana rahe ho?" she asked, trying to make conversation.
"Just something simple," Dhruv replied with a smile. " Curry and rice. I hope you don't mind."
As Dhruv cooked, they continued to chat about their interests and experiences. Ishita found herself drawn to Dhruv's easygoing nature and genuine kindness. His attentiveness and the way he made her feel at ease were endearing.
Dinner was served, and they sat down together. The meal was delicious, and they enjoyed it while discussing everything from cricket to their favorite movies. Ishita couldn't help but notice how Dhruv's presence made her feel calm and cared for.
Throughout the evening, Dhruv's gestures of kindness, from offering her his shirt to cooking a warm meal, made a deep impression on Ishita. She realized that she was beginning to fall for him, not just because of his actions, but because of the genuine person he was.
As the night wore on and the rain continued to pour outside, Ishita felt a sense of contentment and warmth. Dhruv's hospitality had turned a difficult situation into a memorable and meaningful evening. She knew that this night would be one she would cherish, as it marked a turning point in how she saw Dhruv and how she felt about him.
