Valid?

Kinn wasn't sure why he'd taken it to heart. After all, it was fiction, and 50% of the things on the site were untrue. Well... about 40%, if Kinn was being honest.

It would have been so easy to let it go, but the things in the story he was reading were much too familiar. He'd seen the same signs, heard the same symptoms. Even though his father tried to brush it off, Kinn couldn't shake the nagging feeling in his gut—especially if it was being validated by fanfiction.

When he asked Chan, Chan had been vague enough not to answer. When he mentioned it to Porsche, Porsche hadn't seen the same signs to agree or disagree with Kinn. If it was just in Kinn's head, it was a sick joke. Yet, somewhere out there, one of his employees had seen the same thing.

And if it was confirmed, it would be Kinn's worst nightmare. He had to know, either way. If it was true, they'd need to tackle it sooner.

So he took matters into his own hands, employing Arm for digital surveillance and Big for a tail. His father went to work, spent time in the attic, went to the gym, and even had time for parties. For a week, it seemed like nothing at all was amiss.

But just as Kinn was about to let it go, Big came to him with a folder.

"What is this?" Kinn asked.

"From Humble Memorial," Big explained.

As Kinn pulled out the papers in the envelope, Big continued to speak.

"I wondered why he wasn't visiting our own hospital for his checkups anymore. At first, it seemed like nothing."

Kinn blinked down at the paper as he took in the words.

He'd suspected as much. He'd had an inkling that this might be it. But as he stared down at the hospital report, Kinn didn't know how he was supposed to feel about the fact that his father was sick.

And about to die.
