The humid night air of Shanghai clung to us as we moved through the bustling streets. My mind was a whirl of adrenaline and fear, the events of the last hour playing on a loop. We had the Rabbit's Foot, but it felt like holding a live grenade. The clock was ticking, and every second brought us closer to losing everything. Ethan's focus was razor-sharp, his eyes scanning the streets for any sign of Davian's men. We both knew that if we didn't get to Julia in time, there would be no saving her—or Ethan.

We slipped into a narrow alleyway, Luther's voice crackling through our earpieces. "Ethan, Alex, I've got a location on Julia. Davian's holding her in an abandoned building on the north side. But you need to move fast—he's not going to wait."

Ethan's face tightened, the pain from the explosive charge in his head evident. He was pushing through it, driven by sheer willpower. "We're on our way," he replied, his voice steady despite the agony. He turned to me, his expression hard. "Alex, this ends now. We get Julia, and we end Davian."

I nodded, my resolve matching his. We couldn't afford any more mistakes. The stakes were too high, and the line between life and death was razor-thin. "Let's do this," I said, drawing my weapon as we moved towards the building Luther had pinpointed.

The building loomed ahead, dark and silent, a stark contrast to the vibrant city around us. We entered cautiously, every sense on high alert. The corridors were eerily quiet, the only sound our own footsteps echoing off the walls. As we reached the main room, my heart sank. There she was—Julia, tied to a chair, her eyes wide with fear. And standing beside her, with that smug smile I'd come to hate, was Davian.

"Welcome, Hunt," Davian said, his voice dripping with malice. "You're just in time. I hope you brought my Rabbit's Foot."

Ethan's grip tightened on the briefcase holding the Rabbit's Foot. "Let her go, Davian," he demanded, his voice cold. "This is between you and me."

Davian chuckled, shaking his head. "Oh, but that's where you're wrong, Ethan. This is about so much more. It's about power. Control. And right now, I control everything." He gestured to the device in his hand, the detonator that would activate the charge in Ethan's head. "Hand over the Rabbit's Foot, or I push this button, and you die. Then I kill her. Your choice."

I glanced at Ethan, saw the turmoil in his eyes. We were out of options, out of time. But Ethan wasn't one to back down. He set the briefcase down slowly, his movements deliberate. "You want it? Come and get it."

As Davian stepped forward, I moved, my training kicking in. In a blur, I grabbed Julia, pulling her out of the chair as Ethan lunged at Davian. The room erupted into chaos, the sound of a struggle filling the air. I focused on Julia, untying her hands, my heart racing. "It's okay, Julia," I whispered. "You're safe now."

But the fight was far from over. Davian was strong, his punches brutal, but Ethan fought with the desperation of a man who had everything to lose. I could see the pain etched on his face, the struggle to stay conscious. Davian pressed the detonator, and Ethan screamed, collapsing to the floor.

"No!" Julia cried, rushing to Ethan's side. Her hands fumbled over his face, trying to understand what was happening. "What did you do to him?" she shouted at Davian.

Davian sneered, his victory all but certain. "You can't save him. No one can. He's as good as dead."

I moved quickly, drawing my gun and firing at Davian. The bullet hit him square in the chest, and he fell back, a look of shock on his face. He crumpled to the ground, the detonator falling from his hand.

The room was silent, the weight of what just happened settling over us. I rushed to Ethan's side, my heart pounding. The timer on the charge in his head was still counting down, seconds away from detonation. "Stay with me, Ethan," I pleaded, my voice breaking. Julia looked at me, fear in her eyes, and I knew we were out of time. I had to act. The mission was over, but the fight wasn't. I had to save him, no matter what. And as the seconds ticked away, I knew I was facing the most critical moment of my life.
