Honestly, the boat idea seemed like a pretty good one. That is, until everything went wrong.

"Storm!" Cassandra yelled from outside the caravan, ringing a bell we'd attached to the caravan.

"Great, looks like we're drowning," Nickolas sighs, getting up and heading to the door. He tossed me the key to the shackles. "Take those off so you don't drown but stay here, got it?"

I nodded, unlocking the shackles and stuffing both them and the key into my bag.

Not soon after that, water rushed through the caravan and everything went dark.

. . .

"Hey, Savannah! Shoot, don't die on me, I'm gonna lose my job."

I blinked open my eyes and looked around. We were on some island in who knows where. The sun was scorching bright, and we were surrounded by tropical plants and sand. Around me was the whole gang, whole and well, thankfully. The same couldn't be said for the caravan...

"Well gang, I've got bad news and really bad news," Eugene announced, looking off into the distance with Rapunzel's telescope. "We've strayed from the black rock path and our caravan is kaput. "

"Wait," Hookfoot interrupts, pushing a pile of caravan rubble off of him. He had a blue octopus on his face. "So we're stuck here?" He pulled off the octopus. "I don't wanna be stuck here. No one wants to be stuck here. Where is here?!"

"Terapi Island," Lance answers. "An agricultural port known for its bountiful fruit. The waning of the moon sharpens the sweetness of the crop, making the new moon an optimal time to harvest. A cargo ferry arrives to bring the island's fruit to the mainland each new moon."

We all stared at him in disbelief, as Lance hasn't known where we were anywhere past Vardaros.

"How do you possibly know all that?!" Eugene asks for all of us.

"I know things!" the thief answers defiantly. "Plus it says it on that plaque over there." He points to a stone plaque on the beach.

"Sounds like all we gotta do is wait to catch the ferry at the next new moon," the princess concludes.

Cassandra groans, walking away a bit to dump sand out of her boot. "Ugh, we could be here for days! Or months! Or even-"

"Look, I know it's not ideal but, if we have to be stranded, at least it's in a beautiful place like this!" Rapunzel decides. "And, if we are stuck here, we're gonna need to make shelter. Whaddyou say we have a little, uh, shelter building contest, right? Cass and I versus you guys?"

"Whoa whoa whoa whoa, there's four of us and two of you," Eugene points out. "I mean, is that really fair?"

"For the record, it is not two against four,"  Raps retorts. "We've also got Max. And he's as strong as a-as a horse!"

"Where do you two stand in this?" Cass ask, pointing at Nickolas and I. "I am not gonna be on the same team as Caleb over here."

"Tch, same to you," the guard scoffs, pulling off his gloves and rolling up his sleeves. "We'll be fine on our own."

"Alright, if you say so."

The other two teams walk off to build their shelters.

"You still have the scroll pieces?" Nickolas asks, glancing at me. "The ice demon would freak if you lost them."

I check my bag, sure enough, they were still there. Not even wet either. Thank goodness I'd put them back in their separate containers. "Yeah." Then, I laugh, "'The ice demon'?"
