Karma stepped outta the braiding shop, feelin' like a whole new vibe with them goddess braids swayin' down her back. She looked fresh, and she knew it. As she got closer to her building, she could already see 'em. All the dudes posted up on the stairs, smoke rollin' from the grabba they was puffin' on, makin' the air thick.Notti saw her first. "Yoo, Karmaaa! I see you wit' them braids, lookin' all fly and shit!" He grinned, but before she could respond, Ddot jumped in.
"On God, you tryna snatch ALL the hearts now, huh?" Ddot laughed, his joint hangin' from his lips.
Keem and Bloodie both just nodded her way, too busy hittin' the blunt to say much. But then there was David... DD. He ain't say a word, ain't even glance her way. Just sat there, leanin' back, eyes low, blowin' smoke out his mouth like she ain't even there.
Karma felt it. She peeped how he was actin' distant, but she wasn't gon' let that mess wit' her head. Not in front of everybody. She rolled her eyes, kept it movin', steppin' up the stairs like she owned the block.
"Damn, girl, don't ignore us like that!" Keem called after her, playfully smacking Ddot's arm.
Karma threw her hand up behind her, not even turnin' around, "Ain't nobody ignorin' y'all, I'm just tryna get home."
Notti burst out laughin', loud as hell, "Aye, she actin' brand new now that she got them braids, huh? Feelin' herself too much!"
But Karma, man, she wasn't phased. She knew what was up. David tryna act tough, act like he ain't care, but deep down? She knew he felt somethin'. She could feel his eyes burnin' through her even though he ain't look once.
She shot a quick glance his way, all slick and sassy-like, "Y'all don't even know. I stay fly, whether you notice or not." She hit 'em wit' that attitude, then walked past 'em like the queen she was.
She ain't need no validation. Not from them, not from David, not from nobody.
Karma strutted up the stairs like she had a point to prove. She knew all eyes were on her, especially David's, even though he wasn't tryna show it. The smoke from the grabba was thick, curlin' around her, but she didn't pay it no mind. She was used to it. These were her streets just as much as theirs.
As she reached the top step, she stopped, turnin' around slowly, lookin' at them like she had somethin' to say. Her eyes landed on David for a split second. He was sittin' there, slouched, actin' unbothered, but she could tell by the way he exhaled that smoke that he was feelin' some type of way. He didn't look at her, but the vibe? She could feel it heavy.
"Yo, you good?" Ddot asked, flicking the ash off his joint and side-eyein' David. "You awfully quiet, bro."
David didn't even bother respondin', just waved his hand like it was nothin'. He took another hit, exhalin' slow, then finally spoke, "Ain't shit wrong. Y'all just be talkin' too much."
