two weeks had passed since that day in starr's trailer, and the tension between her and mason had only grown. they hadn't spoken outside of their scenes, and even then, their interactions were purely professional. the camaraderie they once shared had vanished, replaced by a cold distance that everyone on set could sense.

on this particular morning, starr and mason were called into mark's office. she walked in first, her mind already bracing for whatever the day had in store. mason arrived shortly after, and although they exchanged a brief glance, neither of them said a word. mark was shuffling through some papers when they entered, barely looking up as they sat down across from him.

"so," mark began, finally looking up at them, "today, we're going to be filming the kiss scene between miller and clara."

starr nodded, trying to focus on the task at hand. it was their job, after all, and she had mentally prepared herself for it. but before mark could continue, mason suddenly spoke up.

"i don't think today's a good day for that," mason said, his voice firm but not aggressive.

starr turned to look at him, her eyebrows knitting together in surprise. she hadn't expected him to protest, especially not like this.

mark blinked, clearly caught off guard. "uh, okay... why not?" he asked, looking between the two of them.

mason hesitated for a moment, his gaze briefly flicking toward starr before settling back on mark. "i just think... maybe we should hold off on that scene for a bit. it's important, and i want to make sure we get it right."

starr could feel the confusion bubbling up inside her. mason's request seemed strange, especially considering they had filmed more intense scenes before without any issues. but she kept quiet, waiting to see what mark would say.

mark studied mason for a long moment before nodding slowly. "alright," he said, though he still seemed a bit puzzled. "we can push the kiss scene to later. instead, let's focus on the argument between miller and clara. we'll film that today."
