Missing kid

It was 9pm by the time I got home and my family was already eating dinner. “Who dropped you off because we saw a car drive past” My mother asked “Kim’s mom of course” I lied and took my shoes off. “I’m gonna go lay down” I said and quickly went to my room before my parents ask anymore questions and when I opened the door my brother was laying on my bed. “Why are you in here” “I don’t know” “can you get out” I asked him and he shook his head “can I please just stay here tonight I don’t wanna be alone” “yeah of course you can just move over”I said and my little brother moved over.

I climbed into the bed and he layed his head on me “are you ok lukey” “yeah”” he said softly “did something happen” “no but it kinda feels like it did I don’t know how to explain it”. “I think you just need to sleep” I said and scratched his head “sleep yeah sleep” he said in a tired voice as he closed his eyes. I kissed his forehead before I grab my sketchbook and quickly drew something before I joined lucas in sleep.

The next day both Lucas and I were woken up by the sound of my alarm. “What time is it” my brother asked as I got out the bed “its time for us to get ready for school go take a shower” I told him as I stretched. “Ok” he said tiredly before he left my bedroom and I went to my closet. I pulled out a gray t-shirt and a acid washed pair of high wasted jeans that I paired with one of Jonathans jackets along with the J neckless I wore yesterday. I picked up my bag and went downstairs to find my brother and sister already sat at the kitchen table eating.

“Good morningggg” my sister said in a sing-song voice “it is too early for this Erica” Lucas said and she rolled her eyes. “Where are mom and dad” I asked “they already left you gotta take me to school” Erica teased “girl I don’t have a car you best go ask Nancy if she can bring you to school” . “You need to learn how to drive” my sister said before she stormed out my house and she went in the direction of the wheelers “you riding with Mike” “yeah were biking” “alri-” I was cut off by the ring of the phone.

I walked over and picked it up “Good morning sinclair residence” I said into the phone “Hi Valerie did Will come and spend the night over there last night” my boyfriends mom Joyce asked me over the phone. “What no did he not come home last night” I asked “he probaby just went to school early sorry to have bothered you” she said then hung up. “Hey Lucas before you go come give me a hug” I asked suddenly having a horrible feeling down in my gut. Lucas nodded and quickly gave me a tight hug “Will wasn’t at home this morning so when you see him at school tell him to call Joyce”. “Ok i’ll do that” Lucas said and he gave me one more hug before dashing out the house in the same direction Erica did.

I quickly ate my breakfast and waited for Eddie to come over and get me. This was typically our routine our parents left during breakfast but the typically took Erica with them which would leave me with Lucas. Lucas would leave so he could ride to school with Mike and I would wait for either Eddie or Jontathan to pick me up. And today Eddie was coming to get me and he doesn’t like waiting so the second I saw his car pull up I left the house

As I got into Eddies car he was blasting some metal song that I couldn’t make out. He turned down the radio and looked over at me “you alright you look kinda upset” Eddie asked. “Oh i’m fine just a bit worried Will wasn’t at home this morning” “Will?” “Jonathans brother”. “I’m sure hes fine he is probably just at school doesn’t your brother go to school before you” “hm yeah your right i’m just overreacting”.

Eddie turned back up his music the second he assumed I was alright. “Your music is weird” I said over the music “oh shut up” he said and flipped me off “we should play queen” “hm why should I do that”. “Because i’m your best friend” I said “after school i’ll let you play queen” “aw you are the best” I said messing up his long hair and he wacked me away “I’m driving here”. “Oh shut up I shouldn’t of shown you that movie” “well you did princess” “I am no princess Kim is a princess”. “Hm yeah you right” he said as we pulled into the school parking lot.

“See you at lunch right” I asked Eddie and he just shrugged “maybe oh look your boyfriend is over there” Eddie called and pointed near the door. “Oooo ok bye Eddie” I said and I walked over to my boyfriend that was sitting outside on a bench. “Woah woah whats wrong” I asked because he looked oh so sad “We still haven’t heard from Will and apparently he didn’t stay at anyones house and now my mom is mad at me because I wasn’t there when he was supposed to come home because I was working and I didn’t even check on him when I got home and I am such a horrible brother you would never of done this to Lucas why did I pick up that stupid shift” he said as he put his hands over his face.

“Baby calm down Will is most likely just at school right now” “yeah but what if he’s not Valerie” he snapped “hey woah no just because your brother wasn’t at home this moring doesn’t mean you get to snap at me” I said with a straight face. "Come talk to me when you can hold a big boy conversation”  said to him and walked inside the crowded school and went to my locker.

“Can you move” I said to the hair infront of me “can you ask nicely” his female minon Carol asked and I rolled my eyes. “Can you please move Steve” I asked in a fake voice and he pushed off my locker “of couse I can Valerie” he said with a wink before his girlfriend Nancy walked up. “You know Valerie?” Nancy asked and Steve nodded not taking his eyes off of me “yeah I know her” he said as he took his eyes off me anlooked at his girlfriend.

I opened my locker and Kim came up to me as soon as Steve and his people left. “Since when were you all buddy buddy with Steve” Kim asked “um since the homecoming game” I said back as I thought of it. “What how why?” she asked rapidly as homecoming was at the end of september and was now early November. “I don’t know how or why” I lied nor wanting to get into that at this very moment “fine don’t tell me then” she said and went off to her class.
