The school bell rings, signaling the end of the day, and the students begin to spill out into the courtyard.

I head outside, looking around for Mama, who is supposed to pick me up. The late afternoon sun casts a warm, golden hue over everything, and the air is filled with the excited chatter of kids.

I spot Quentin waiting nearby, and he waves as he walks over. "Hey, Lilac!"

"Hi, Quentin!" I respond with a smile. "What's up?"

Quentin grins and falls into step beside me. "Just waiting for my parents to pick me up. What about you?"

"I'm waiting for Mama," I say. "She should be here any minute now."

We chat idly for a while, and then Quentin asks, "So, Lilac, have you ever thought about what you want to be when you grow up?"

I nod eagerly. "Yeah, I've always wanted to have a flower shop. I love flowers so much! And I think it would be so much fun to help people pick out bouquets and arrangements."

Quentin's eyes widen in interest. "That sounds really adorable! Actually, I can picture you surrounded by flowers, making people smile."

I laugh, feeling a bit shy but pleased with his reaction. "Thanks, Quentin! What about you? Do you have any ideas?"

"Well, I want to be a doctor like my dad!" Quentin says with a determined look. "I think it would be great to help people feel better and take care of them when they're sick."

I smile, imagining Quentin in a white coat with a stethoscope around his neck.

"Woah. . . that's a really noble goal. You'd make a great doctor," I say, smiling at him.

Quentin grins, clearly pleased. "Thanks, Lilac! It's nice to have a friend who supports my dreams, I appreciate you for that."

We continue talking about our future plans, each of us excited about the possibilities. It's nice to share our dreams and hear Quentin's enthusiasm for his future.

Just then, I hear Mama's voice calling my name. "Lilac! There you are!"

I turn and see Mama walking toward me with a warm smile. I wave excitedly and run over to her. "Mama! I'm so glad you're finally here!"
