The sun is beginning its descent, casting a warm, golden hue over the playground as the clock strikes 4 PM.
The school bell rings, signaling the end of another fun-filled day. Quentin and I are sitting on the steps outside the school, still buzzing with the excitement of our adventures. We've spent the afternoon exploring, playing games, and imagining fantastical worlds, but now it's time to head home.
I spot Papa, North, standing by the car, his eyes scanning the playground for me. He's wearing his usual warm smile, and as soon as he sees me, he waves enthusiastically.
"Lilac!" he calls out, his voice carrying over the chatter of the other students. "Time to go home!"
Quentin looks up, his face lighting up with a mix of surprise and excitement. "Oh, is it time already?" he frowned a bit.
I got sad as well, I ain't ready to go home yet!
I nod, standing up and brushing the dust off my clothes. "Yeah. . . it's time to go."
Miss Hazelwood walks over, her smile as bright as ever. "Goodbye, Lilac. Goodbye, Quentin. I hope you both had a wonderful day!"
"Bye, Miss Hazelwood!" Quentin and I call in unison, waving at her.
Miss Hazelwood waves back, her eyes twinkling with warmth. "Take care, you two! And remember, keep having those amazing adventures."
Quentin and I start walking toward Papa, but Quentin suddenly stops and looks at us with a thoughtful expression. "Actually, I think I'd like to walk home today. It's such a nice day, and it's not too far."
Papa looks over, raising an eyebrow but clearly considering the idea. "Are you sure, Quentin? It's a bit of a walk."
Quentin nods eagerly. "Yeah, I'm sure. I don't mind at all, Mister!" he smiles.
Papa glances at me, then back at Quentin, and finally smiles. "Alright then, if you're sure. Just be careful, and if you need anything, don't hesitate to call."
"Thanks, Mister," Quentin says, looking relieved and happy.
I turn to Quentin, giving him a warm smile. "Okay, Quentin. I'll see you tomorrow, right?"
"Definitely!" Quentin says, giving me a thumb-up. "And don't forget, we still need to find that dragon!"
