The weekend has passed in a flurry of games and laughter, and now Monday morning arrives with the familiar hum of school and routine. The sun filters through the curtains, lighting my room gently. I wake up feeling refreshed and ready for a new week of adventures with Quentin.
I hope we will be able to find the dragons today!
I quickly dressed in my school uniform and bound down the stairs, where Mama and Papa are already at the breakfast table. Papa is reading the newspaper, while Mama is making a fresh pot of coffee. I can't wait to tell them all about the fun Quentin and I had over the weekend.
"Good morning, Mama, Papa!" I chirp as I sit down at the table. "Did you see how cool the dragon book is? I read so much of it last time!"
Mama sets a plate of toast and jam in front of me. "Good morning, sweetheart! I heard you had quite an adventure. How about you tell us more while we eat?"
As I nibble on my toast, I recount our weekend escapades. I describe the games we played, the stories we invented, and how we planned our future careers with a touch of dragon magic. Papa listens with a smile, occasionally glancing up from his newspaper.
"Well, that sounds like a wonderful time," Papa says as he folds his newspaper. "I'm glad you had such fun, my princess! Do you have any plans for today?"
I finish my breakfast and stand up. "Just school today, but I hope Quentin is there. We always have the best time together you know!"
Mama ruffles my hair affectionately. "I'm sure you'll have a great day! Now, let's get you to school."
We leave the house and head to the car. Papa drives us, and I sit in the backseat, my mind racing with excitement for the day ahead.
I can't wait to see Quentin and tell him everything about the dragon book!
As we pull up to school, I spot Quentin waiting by the gate. I wave excitedly, and he waves back, his face l i g h t i n g up with a big smile. I hop out of the car and run over to him, feeling the familiar thrill of seeing my best friend.
"Hi, Quentin!" I greet him, my voice bubbling with enthusiasm. "Did you finish reading more of the dragon book? I can't wait to talk about it!"
Quentin's eyes sparkle. "I did, Lilac! I'm really into it. Do you want to meet up during break and talk about our favorite parts later?"
"Definitely!" I agree, practically bouncing with excitement. "Let's meet by the huge oak tree!"
