Finding a tree that they could sleep in took ten minutes.

"Here, you can use my hands for a push up," Darcy said to Sophia who was having trouble trying to get into the tree.

Smiling Sophia said, "thanks."

After lifting Sophia up, she turned to the dog to gesture with her hands picking her up and putting her in the tree only to receive a growl and a giggle in return.

Lifting both hands up and surrendering, Darcy started to chuckle and say, "Fine by me, you're the one who's gonna be eaten by a variant."

The dog turned away and walked to the base of the tree to lay down and keep guard.

Pulling herself up into the tree was hard but she did it.

"Scooch over, you're taking all the room," Darcy said to Sophia to try and make her laugh again.

"You're the one taking all of it."

With an offended voice she slapped her hand against her chest and said, "How dare you call me fat," Darcy then proceeded to tickle Sophia until she had tears in her eyes and her cheeks hurt from laughing.

"Ok ok I give you mercy, but only because your dog looks like she will climb up this tree herself," Darcy said as she stared down at the dog who had a murderous look on her face.

Sophia giggled at the look on Darcy's face.

"You should go to sleep Sophia," Darcy stated.

Nervously Sophia asked, "Would... would you hold me please?"

In a soft voice Darcy didn't hesitate to say, "Sure I can."

Darcy knew she was afraid and to be honest so was she.

Snuggling up together Darcy stared at the stars wondering how she made the variants fly away until Sophia fell asleep, then she did the same.

"Darcy, wake up," Sophia grew frustrated after repeating herself so many times that she decided to make the dog bark. Surely that'll wake Darcy up.

Clicking with her tongue she called the dog over and said, "Bark, I need you to wake up Darcy."

Seeming to understand her she let out a loud bark.

Startled from her sleep at the sound of a bark, she turned to where it came from and said, "Shut it."

Hearing giggling she turned her head towards the culprit and asked, "You asked her to, didn't you?"

Still giggling, Sophia said innocently, "You wouldn't wake up."

Chuckling, Darcy grabbed their bags and dropped them onto the ground.

After climbing down the tree, she lifted her hands up and gestured *come here* with them at Sophia.

Putting her hands onto Darcy's shoulders Sophia jumped down.

"We need breakfast and then we'll start looking," Darcy said and then added, "Where did you last see your mother?"

"On the highway, we stopped because the caravan wasn't working, then a large group of walkers came and we all had to hide," Sophia looked down, "I was chased by two walkers, that's how I got lost."

"Oh ok, we'll go there then, it shouldn't be too far."

Darcy gestured for Sophia to come to her as she dug around in her full bag.

"Ah ha, here it is," Darcy pulled out a small box of breakfast bars.

"Here, take as many as you want."
