"Just don't let it happen again," Jane tapped the car door of the man she had just finished writing a speeding ticket to, giving him a nod while he finished frantically apologizing for his lack of awareness of speed limit signs before heading back to her car.

The chilly night had been peaceful except for a few usual ticketing stops on the highway.

Jane only had to complain about the late hours and her desperate need for sleep. Even though she was close to being off the clock, her trip to the bar with Ha-ri the previous night seemed less and less worth it as the clock ticked down to her final couple of hours, and she became increasingly drained.

The patrol would've been less exhausting if she had Ha-ri yapping in her ear the entire time, but she'd make do.

Jane relaxed in the front seat, watching the car of the man she pulled over drive off as she turned on her car's heater.

She sighed, grabbing a Five Hour Energy drink and taking a sip before she prepared to pull off.

The highway near the city part of Seoul wasn't busy on a typical Monday late at night; that's what jane liked most about late-night shifts. They could get boring when you're alone, but nothing beats listening to the radio, humming to the beat as you cruise down the road in serenity.

A few cars drove past Jane, the drivers clearly on their best behavior with a cop in the area, but in the distance, she could spot a car going twenty miles past the speed limit.

She turned on her car's flashing lights, the siren blaring as she quickened her speed after the vehicle.

"Shit, shit, shit," jiweon whined, slamming her hand against the stirring wheel in frustration.

She glanced from the empty road before her to the bright lights in her rearview mirror following her behind. She gripped the wheel tighter, not knowing where to pull off. She only had a couple more miles to her parent's house.

If only she could make it a few-

Jane pressed the car horn, making jiweon jump from the sudden loud noise that only filled her with fear.

Jiweon huffed, her heart beating against her chest as she brought her car to a stop on the side of the highway. She could already feel her eyes watering, her face turning a light shade of pink from her tears that were ready to break from the damn holding them back.
She was fucked.

Jane parked behind the dark red four-door, ensuring she had her pen and notepad in her shirt pocket before stepping out. She walked in slow motion in Jiweon head as jiweon repeatedly glanced behind her shoulder and then forward at the road, wanting to see the danger coming but too scared to face it.

Jiweon nearly jumped out of her skin when Jane tapped on the window, her intimidating stance and blank expression showing through her tinted windows.

When Jiweon rolled down the window, Jane was taken aback. She knew she had pulled over a girl by the length of her hair, but she wasn't expecting her to be so pretty.

Jiwoen's cheeks were flushed, and her big eyes were the size of saucers as they begged to be let go.

Jane liked that look on her.
