Thomas
Today is the day. Well, today is the day for multiple things. Lizzy and I are heading down to Florida to visit Luke and Ashley after the birth of their first child. Not only that, but it's also the day I'm going to propose to her. I've had this planned for months now ever since we made the decision of when we would visit Luke and Ashley. The baby is a month old now, and we figured it's a good time to try to visit.
"Thomas, hurry up! I want to get on the road!" Lizzy calls up the stairs.
"Coming!" I shout back, staring at the ring inside the box in my hand. Today is going to be perfect. I shove the box inside my jacket pocket, carrying it over my arm as I walk downstairs.
"I got the last bag in the car. So, we should be all set to go." I smile at her, giving her a kiss. "We'll have time for kissing later. We have to go!" I chuckle at her impatience and follow her to the car.
"My lady." I say, opening the door for her. She gets in and I head over to the other side.
"You seem extra happy today. What's up your sleeve?"
"Nothing. I'm just excited to meet the baby." She nods, not fully believing that's the whole truth. "Did you let Luke know we're on our way?" I ask about 10 minutes into the drive.
"I did. He said he can't wait to see us." I smile, focusing my attention back on the road. Luke and Ashley know that I'm going to be proposing to Lizzy, and they have been a huge help in planning this whole thing. I cannot wait to see the look on her face.

Something is going on, and I'm going to get to the bottom of it. Thomas has been acting strange for weeks now, and he always tries to cover it up with something. He's planning something, and I just can't put my finger on it. Then again, maybe he is just excited to see Luke and Ashley and their new baby.
Once we get through the five hour drive, we finally arrive at Luke and Ashley's. They are standing outside with their daughter, and she's the most adorable little thing. I barely give Thomas a chance to put the car in park before I'm jumping out of the car. I rush over and give them both a huge hug. I gasp at how tiny their daughter's feet and fingers are.
"Thomas, look at this! She's so tiny." My eyes tear up and Thomas wraps his arm around my waist.
"Why don't we all head inside? We can show you the nursery." Luke says, and I instantly clasp my hands with joy. We follow them inside and upstairs to the nursery. The walls are a beautiful shade of pastel pink with hints of purple and red flowers. The room is full of baby toys and books.
"Well isn't this the most adorable little nursery I've ever seen." I say, watching Ashley lay the baby in the crib. "I'm so happy for you guys. You make amazing parents."
"And you'll be an amazing mom one day, too." Ashley says, giving me a gentle squeeze as she hugs me. I blush at the thought of Thomas and I having children. It's not something we've ever really talked about, but I definitely want kids one day. I turn to look at Thomas, and he has a similar look on his face. Without using words, we both know that's something we want together one day.

Later that evening, after dinner, Thomas starts to seem very nervous. I place my hand on his, causing him to look at me.
"You alright?" I ask, and he nods.
"Fine, why?"
"Just wondering. You seem distracted."
"I'm probably just tired. I didn't sleep well last night." I nod, knowing he's just using whatever excuse he can to distract me from something.
"Elizabeth, would you mind helping me in the kitchen for a moment?" Ashley asks, and I follow her. "I was trying a new recipe for this dessert, and I want to see what you think." Okay, something is definitely going on.
"Ashley, what's going on?"
"What do you mean? I made a key lime pie. I want to see if you think it's good before I try to serve it." Even though this is completely random, I try to shake it off. She puts a piece on a plate and hands it to me.
"This is really good." I say, after taking a bite.
"Great, let's see if the guys want some." We step out of the kitchen and notice the table is empty. "Hmm, I wonder if they went outside." She says, a smirk on her lips. She guides me to the back door that leads down to the beach, and as soon as I'm outside, I almost drop the plate. Ashley takes it from me and gives me a gentle nudge.
Down on the beach stands Thomas in the middle of candles and flower petals in the shape of a heart. My heart is beating so fast, and I have to stop myself from running full force down the beach. As I approach him, I notice Luke standing off to the side with his phone out recording.
"Thomas? What is this?" I ask, as if I didn't already have my assumptions. He takes me by the hand, and he pulls me in for a kiss. He steps back, kneeling down on one knee. He holds my hands in one hand while the other reaches into his back pocket, pulling out a velvet box. "Thomas." I gasp, trying not to immediately burst into tears.
"Lizzy, the past 2 1/2 years with you have been the best days of my life. I would be a complete idiot if I didn't tell you how badly I want to spend the rest of my life with you." He pops open the box and reveals the most beautiful diamond ring I've ever seen. "Lizzy, will you do me the honor of making me the happiest man on earth? Will you marry me?"
"Are you kidding? Yes!" I squeal, letting him slip the ring on my finger before I jump into his arms. He twirls me around, and I crash my lips to his. "Oh my God! I'm going to get married!" I'm practically jumping up and down at this point causing him to laugh.
"I cannot wait to be your husband." He says, pulling me in for a deep kiss. We hear cheering and whistling coming from behind us, and I turn to see not only Luke and Ashley, but my parents as well. I gasp, shocked that my parents were also here. They pull us in for a group hug and my heart skips a beat. I get to spend the rest of my life with the one man I've ever truly loved. I jump into Thomas' arms again, attacking him with kisses and causing him to laugh against my lips. Life sure has its ways of surprising you, and I couldn't have asked for it any other way.
