bad influences

When I was in 4th grade I had this girl. She was my best friend. Her name was Ellie. She did drugs and cut herself. We were only in 4th grade it was hard to understand. But she was skinny and blue eyed with white skin. She was popular too, of course I wanted to be friends with her. She was also a lesbian. How does an 8 year old even do any of this. She did. She snuck out the house too. Alone. She went to the store and bought energy drinks. But someone had to the be the good influence. So I was. I stayed by her side even if she talked bad about me and offered me drugs.. I always declined. Shockingly she ended up with a lot of disorders and getting other girls addicted in middle school a few years later. But at the time I had no one else. I guess I kinda always have been relying on others. I have attachment issues. Always have. One night I mustered the courage to sneak out. We stayed on video call for hours. The time was 11:15. And it was time to take action. I threw on the biggest hoodie I could find on the coat rack downstairs. I put it on and tried to look older than I was. I put a fork in the pocket. A knife was too much but a fork. A metal one can actually do a lot of damage. And if the police caught it. A fork isn't technically illegal. I thought it out. Reminder not to get a 4th grader a phone. I got my bike from the garage. Opening the garage would be way too much work and way too loud. The safest option was to take it from the garage through downstairs out the door. And just like that I left. We had plans to run away a few days later. So I packed a backpack with everything I would need to run away. Off the grid type stuff. Not sure why I thought I could pull that off. But step one was to be out the door at all. And I was. Step 1 completed. So I road through the neighborhood to my school not too far from my house. She met me there. From there we road to the gas station nearby. Only to buy snacks and such. But she wanted to take me to buy vapes and so bad things. I didn't bring money. Her brother gave her $100. I bought some snacks and she bought energy drinks. Those aren't good for 10 year olds. I told her not to. She did anyway.. at the register the man ringing us up. He told us girls like us shouldn't be here or out this late. He's totally right. He rung us up anyway. We told him it was our dad's birthday and that he liked energy drinks. Monster to be specific.. in reality she got it for her and her LITTLE BROTHER. But we road home. Her parents check her room at midnight. She had to turn back now.. I was on my own the rest of the way. Dark and alone. A good neighborhood though thankfully. I called my sister. I told her about what I did but she didn't believe me. I wasn't very specific. All this on a Thursday night I don't blame her. She wasn't home. I got home though. I got to the front door. I open the door with the padlock. My dog started barking.. and the kitchen lights were on. My sister Yvonne my eldest sister was downstairs. I didn't know what to do. I tried to close the door as quickly and quietly as I could. Then I ran up the stairs because my dog was way too loud. About to sell me out. I ran to my Kammy room shes the middle child. My parents called for me. I came out of her room and I told them I was having a sleepover in her room that night. And I was waiting for her. My parents told me not to and to just go back to sleep. Good enough I left my snacks in her room and I went to my room. I camped there. I planned to go back once everything settled down. I would've gone back down and took my bike back. Easy. I got away. Or so I thought. My dad called me to their room. And just like that I was caught. I never snuck out again after that.. lesson was learnt. Then.
