As we entered the common room, we were greeted with multicolored strobe lights and blasting music. Everyone had a cup in their hand, and a faint smell of pot lingered in the air. I had to admit, they knew how to throw a party.

"Can you guys please not leave me like last time? I hardly see any Slytherins here."

"Daph would be more than happy to, but I, on the other hand, see a lovely Hufflepuff that needs tending to," Theo yelled over the music and eyed a tall 7th-year.

This is usually how it went when we all went to parties. We would split up and regroup in a couple of hours. Usually very drunk with some stories to tell.

"C'mon, let's go get a drink." She yelled and pointed to the drink table.

Me and her spent the next hour drinking and talking to various people.

"I'm gonna go pee!" She yelled a bit too loudly, obviously tipsy. I hung out on one of the vacant couches that didn't have two people kissing on it. I was already done with this night.

"Hello Maeve, haven't seen you around much lately." Graham Montague had sat next to me. I immediately felt the urge to vomit up my drinks.

"What do you want, Graham?" I pushed his arm off me that he had put around my back.

"I just wanted to say you look good. It's a shame things didn't work out between us. That doesn't mean we still can't have fun, does it?" He looked me up and down with hunger in his eyes. I could tell he was wasted; he reeked of booze.

"Things didn't work out between us because you're a manipulative asshole who I wouldn't touch with a ten-foot pole."  I pushed his hand off me once more.

"Oh c'mon, how about we go back to my room? I know you miss me."

''No you idiot, I would rather fuck Filch than you again.'' I smacked the cold hand that was resting on my waist.

"Graham, she said no. Why don't you go fuck off?" a familiar voice appeared behind me. I turned around to see Fred. "I'm just having some fun Weasley, why don't you mind your own business."

Everything after that was so sudden and unexpected. Fred took a sip of his drink, then punched Graham straight in the nose. The people around us all looked at us while Graham moaned in pain. I couldn't help but laugh a bit. I was going to thank Fred, but I realized he was gone already. I got up to search for Daph; I couldn't wait to tell her about this.

"Theo, have you seen Daph? I have something amazing to tell her." I interrupted his make-out session with a girl who looked a lot different than the one he was with a couple of hours ago.

"Pansy took her back to her room. She couldn't handle her alcohol, per usual. Tell me later, yeah?"

"Aye Aye Captain!" I saluted him and made my way up the stairs to the dorms. I harshly knocked on Fred's door, waiting for him to answer.

"What do you want?" He looked like he had been through hell. He had huge dark circles around his eyes, and I could tell he hadn't shaved in a while. I guess the rumors were true.

"Hello Fred, may I come into your dorm room? I would like to thank you, and I have some ice in my cup for your hand!" I tipped over my cup a bit to show him the few pieces of ice.

"You're fucking wasted Golding, go back to your dorm." He was right; I was wasted.

"I'm gonna throw up."

I heard him sigh and shut his eyes. "Merlin, get in here. Don't puke on the floor, though, go straight to the bathroom." I listened and ran to their on-suite bathroom, kneeling near the surprisingly clean toilet.

''Here, drink this.'' He handed me a cup filled with an elixir and water. I eyed it and him carefully.

''For fuck sake, I didn't put anything in it. It will help with the nausea. Just a simple potion and much-needed water.'' He nudged the cup towards me until I took it, Chugging it down.

"Thank you for punching him back there, he deserved it. It was great to watch, too."

"I didn't do it for you. I've been wanting to hit that prick for years now. He just gave me the perfect opportunity to.  Get cleaned up."  Before I could say anything, he slammed the door shut, leaving me on the bathroom floor.

I got up and leaned against the sink, splashing water over my face. He was right; I looked like a total mess. What was I doing here? What the fuck did I expect to happen? I wouldn't admit this to myself if I was sober, but I wouldn't mind if something did happen. I guess I was that desperate.

"I'm gonna go now. Sorry for the intrusion, by the way." I wasn't sober, but I was embarrassed. I made my way to the door as I heard him speak out.

''You can stay here for a bit if you want. At least until you sober up more.''

He was sitting on his bed, leaning against the headboard with a book in his hand. He didn't look up at me, not once. I sat on the bed that was next to him; I assumed it was Georges.

''He won't be back until tomorrow, probably. He has big plans to get with Angelina.''

''Why aren't you down there, too?'' I already knew the answer; I just wanted to talk to him a bit more.

''I don't really feel like socializing tonight. I'm assuming you've already heard the rumors about Katie and me. It's all anyone in our year is talking about.''

''I did... and I'm really sorry, Fred. Truly.''

''It's fine, I'll get over it eventually. I knew it wasn't going to last between us.''

I fell asleep that night watching him read his book, as small tears escaped his eyes.
