your pov:

summer is ending at camp. 

the days are becoming cooler, orange begins to give the trees a burnt halo. you watch as there are fewer and fewer birds in the sky. you spot them congregating and amongst the trees, leaving never alone. always together, and always in formation. 

you've been at camp all summer. no family means no vacation and you are no exception to this. 

so you've spent all your time at the lake, gossiping with the naiads, feet swirling lazy figure eights in the cool water. 

percy has spent the summer with his mom. 

you miss him. a lot more than you would like to admit. it's hard for you to love someone so openly when you've spent your whole life boarded off like a house long abandoned.  overgrown vines of ivy and a drooping porch all that you need to scare off unwanted feelings. 

until you met percy. 

if he is sunshine, then you are midnight rain and that's just the way you like it. 

today is the same as any other day. 

you wake up, eat a compilation of fruit for breakfast, and explore the woods. 

you think that you know all the nooks and crannies between the trees, but somehow, everyday you follow a new path to a new place. you can feel the dryads watching you from their respective trees, making sure that you don't get hurt or lost. 

you've become close friends with the forest and as close friends often do, it takes care of you like you are one of its own. you climb half-way up your favorite tree, knowing that your favorite dryad, saorise, won't be far behind. she is a hamadryad of one of the tallest oak trees in the forest, thousands of years old and situated at the foot of a river. 

it's roots reach their spindly fingers deep into the water, drinking up the nutrients as it shades the forest. 

you get lost in the dew-kissed leaves and the age-worn trees. 

you don't even notice the sunshine boy across the clearing, a proud grin plastered across his face. 

"Y/N!!!"

he startles you so much that you fall out of the tree.

"oh fuck," he laughs, coming to help you. 

"owww," you groan, staring up at the branch that so rudely ejected you from the tree. 

then you remember who you saw like three seconds ago and your face lights up. 

"PERCY!!!"

you sit yourself up just in time for your boyfriend to throw himself at you, laughing. 

you catch him in your arms, but the force pushes you back to the ground. 

he buries his head in your neck, kissing the curve of your throat. 

he attacks you with kisses, pressing his lips to your smile lines. you giggle. 

"you're back?? i thought you still had another week?" you ask, out of breath. 

"i wasn't about to leave my girl to spend the whole summer by herself," he smiles lovingly at you, "come on, we're going on a road trip." 

"WE ARE?"
