Chapter 1: Gardener's dream

"I'll be quite alright Mom, I tend to the farm all the time I'll be perfectly fine"I smile, tying my hair back into a loose ponytail.I can understand why she's so weary today, there have been multiple reports of slashers over the past few days but we live far from any town and the people on the farm have no idea where our house even is, they just know who we are.

"And you will have the Farmers by your side?"
"Yes mom"Still, something does feel off about today.But it's not like I can skip work today out of fear, I've never been too afraid of knives.
"Goodbye Nari, goodbye Suske"I wave.Nari waves goodbye with the sweetest smile and Suske just rolls his eyes, typical 12 year old.
Nari has always been the sweetest little girl, never caused one problem.She is beautiful too, long black hair and natural rosy cheeks.Suske, however, usually brushes people off but I know deep down he loves us and that's enough for me.Suske is a handsome boy as well, I'm not saying that in a weird way as his sister.He has short, curly, jet black hair and the prettiest smile when he shows it.Again, don't think I'm a creep, but a sister can think the world of her siblings without being a weirdo.

I put up my hood, tying the front of my Kimono a little tighter and began my walk through the forest towards the farm.

"Hello Mrs Anza, we watered the crops but you said to leave the flowers for you didn't you?I hope I'm not mistaken Miss!"Isamu, when I'm not around, Isamu is in charge.
"No no you aren't mistaken Isamu, you don't have to call me Miss either, Anza is just fine"I smile, patting his shoulder.Where I live, colleagues just call eachother by first name.Usually, that would be a huge disrespect but I've discussed it through with everyone and they all consented to first name basis.Isamu's surname is Sato, which I made sure to call him before our group meeting but now he's Isamu to me."Yes Miss-Yes Anza..."He blushes slightly, running his hand over the back of his neck."Would you like me to accompany you to the flower garden or will you be alright?"
"I'll be okay, could you please make sure Asahi behaves himself?"
Without another word, he nodded, smiling as he walked away.Asahi is more troublesome than anyone else on the farm.For whatever reason he finds joy in cussing out the other farmers, to each their own I suppose.

I walked towards the flower garden, sighing a breath of relief as I took in the sweet scent of the blue flowers and the pink ones too.I've always had an interest in flowers, it brings me joy to be around them.The smell, the feel, the look of them is so beautiful it's hard not to admire them.

I hear a few twigs snap beside me and I look over, immediately being met with the sight of a small child in the bushes.Their clothes ragged and their hair matted.My gaze softens and I lean down to the floor, squatting in front of the child."Hello there, who might you be?"
"I-Inaka, miss...I'm sorry for coming into your garden...I have nowhere e-else to go"she stuttered, sitting on her knees."Dear sweet child, don't apologise, I'm not upset.Can I get you anything?Food?Water?"
"Oh no miss!I would not like to bother you...you're already ruining your kimono sat in the dirt"
"I insist sweetheart, my Kimono can be washed.Let me get you some food...Isamu?"I call out, waiting a few moments before he came rushing towards me and bowing.
"Yes Anza?"
"Would you be so kind as to find some clothes for...Inaka?"
The girl nods, confirming I got her name right and I continue to speak.
"Yes, Inaka.And do we have any rice balls to spare?"
"Yes, yes we do I'll get those for you now!"He bowed before making his way towards the dining shed.We keep all of our food inside the fridge in there so it doesn't go stale while we are working.I turn back to Inaka, smiling and taking her into my arms."We'll have you some dinner prepared"
