If You Bleed

- Ben's POV -

The smooth texture of the paper ran along my fingertips. My eyes scanned along the page, reading each word from the top of the page, down to the bottom. Silence surrounded me, I was engulfed in nothing but a fictional world of suspense. Truth is, I wasn't one for suspense usually, I didn't take it the best, but at last, I would find myself reading it from time to time.

I was partially distracted——I couldn't help myself. My mind had been swarmed, constantly reminding me of what Y/n had told me the previous night. It was something that was... well, hard to keep to just myself. I hadn't seen her since that night, each time I had found myself on the main floor I would only end up interacting with mom or my other siblings, especially Klaus; wherever there is alcohol, he is.

Part of me had been wondering where she had been, but it seemed quite obvious——she was in her bedroom (the bedroom that she was setting up her things in for the time being.) Truth is, I couldn't blame her, it would be hard to be in a new place l with completely new people, I would hardly have had the courage to speak to any of them.

The sound of two voices rung through the hallway, I could recognize one of them without a problem, while the other, I needed an additional moment to pinpoint who it belonged to.

It was Allison and Y/n, I couldn't understand what exactly they were saying, it was too muffled, but from the tone of Allison's voice, I assumed that it was some kind of friendly interaction, which was to be expected because Allison was quite the friendly girl, especially to a girl in a bad situation such as Y/n.

Their voices came and went, leaving me alone with my thoughts again.

Today had been uneventful, mostly just involving small talk with my siblings, and a lonely run to Whataburger. I was finishing my night off alone, again, in my bedroom, reading to pass the time. Passing the time until what? I wasn't exactly sure... I was mostly just waiting for sleepiness to pull me into its embrace and let me retire for the night.

My eyelids felt heavy; that was my sign to switch off the lamp and tuck myself under the covers. Well... it would've been. It sounded as if someone in the house had opened fire, and only in this house, would that sound actually mean that.

I flipped the cover off my legs and cautiously walked towards the door of my room, opening the door only confirmed my suspicions: what I had been hearing was the sound of gunshots.

Behind the sound of the violent machines, I could hear yelling... that was what concerned me the most, and ended up with me walking out towards the main balcony to the ground floor.

Louder. Louder. Louder.

The gunshots grew louder, they were deafening at this point... from the sound of it, one peek around the corner could end up with a fatal injury.

I took the chance, seeing the figure of a female hiding nearby, who was also cautiously watching what was taking place on the ground floor.

She peeked around the side of an antique chair sitting by the upstairs railing. Her hair dangled over the side of her face, from the silhouette of her hair, height (kind of) and side profile, I had a decent guess on who it was: Y/n.

I began to crouch run over to her, seeing her staring down at the ground floor, where the shooters stood.

"Klaus is down there..." She said softly... "I don't know what to do..."

She attempted to runaway, despite the fact that I grabbed the back of her shirt.

"Y/n, don't!" I whisper-yelled, "Five said you might be a target, baiting them with a hologram will only prove it!"

She pushed me away, and began to run towards the stairs. While she began to run down, I heard her voice call out from the other side of the room.

"Hey, bitches!" She shouted, well, her hologram shouted.

I began to run after her, however, when I reached the ground floor, I began to wonder if I needed to. She had both of the men with their back turned to her. She picked up one of the shards from one of Klaus's many random alcohol bottles, and seemed to slit the first man's throat. However, the second man, noticed, and turned around and began to shoot. She fell to the ground to avoid the line of fire.

Despite the agonizing physical pain, I did what I had to do in order to do, she was vulnerable and on the ground.

Silence overtook the mansion, until it was broken by the sound of Y/n breathing heavily, and moaning in pain.

My head shot around, my mind settling on the worst case scenario. I walked over and crouched beside the woman, who was laying on her back, covering part of her lower stomach.

"I didn't get shot, it's just glass, I fell on glass," she said in a weak voice, "I'm——I'm sorry..."

"We need to get you to mom... she can help," I said, "Klaus, come help me!"

A/N: Short chapter, and ik I'm bad at writing action scenes it's a work in progress lmao
