- Y/N's POV -

Up to this point, the day had not been productive, in fact, the only 'productive' things I had done were getting myself together that morning; I had gotten dressed, and done my makeup and hair. Every emotion that ran it's course through my body seemed to directly correlate with a song, one of which I had listened to twice in the later hours of the sunrise.

Despondency played me like a puppet. The movement of each limb, each toe, each finger seemed unnecessary; a waste of energy. Pointlessness. I was sucked into the disconsolate domain of pointlessness. Lyrics to the song played through my head on repeat, digging me further down into this pit.

"What the hell were you thinking?!" The sound of muffled shouting crept underneath my door. Although it was exceptionally more difficult to accurately pinpoint who the voice belonged to, I recognized it. Given the amount of up-front anger and hostility in it, I assumed it must belong to: the vigilante——Diego——who appeared to be the hothead of the family.

My hand touched grazed the cold metal of the doorknob, slowly opening it. The door was pulled inwards, letting a clearer sound of the confrontation reach me.

"You know, Ben, I should have been the one to call her, not you," the vigilante's voice was loud, seemingly filled with bitterness and frustration.

I hesitantly walked out of my bedroom, and towards the stairs the led to the ground floor. Once I had reached the ground floor, the two involved in the argument were finally in my view.

It was, as mentioned earlier, Diego along with Ben. Diego seemed full of a mix of anger and slight embarrassment, however I could still practically see veins surfaced to the skin of his neck as he frowned at Ben. Meanwhile, Ben's expression remained a middle ground between passive and assertive.

"I'll just wait for her, on my own," Ben stood up, and stormed off. He passed me, however didn't seem to notice my presence.

Diego sat on the couch, his head weighed down with shame. After a long debate with myself, I decided to approach the man.

"What was all that about?" I slowly inched my way closer to the man who sat in a sad slump.

"Ben brought someone who has absolutely no business into this," Diego said, his palms covering his eyes.

"Well, do you think that might be able to help?" I replied, attempting to shift the conversation to a more optimistic pathway, rather than fueling his rage.

"It's not even about that. You'd think he should at least let me know before meddling with the people in my personal life?"

"Bad terms?"

He paused, "I am going to look like an asshole for not having reached out sooner. It's not that I don't care it's just that she has nothing to do with it," the man was very quick to defend himself, clearly a victim of his own criticism. It was chipping away at him.

"You'll just look like someone who's trying to keep her out of the shitty things happening in your life, man," I hesitantly sat down beside him, "different people approach things differently."

I was bound to defend him at——truth is, I had a tremendous amount of respect for him. The first day I had set foot in this house, the first day I had met this family, I was fearing for my safety. Given the situation that a stranger just showed up their doorstep, it was extremely generous for them to have taken me in. Not only that, But Diego, without hesitation, had taken the life of the man who had put mine at risk. I had respect in my heart, strong and pure as a diamond.

He nodded.

"So, don't worry how she sees you," I stood up, slowing as I felt my muscles clench around the wound on my abdomen, "she should..." I paused for a strained breath. "... understand."

He glanced at me, his eyebrows furrowed, "what happened there?" He gestured to my abdomen.

I looked down at my hand, which was softly laid over the wounded area, "just had an issue with some broken glass when some people broke in here."

"Did you actually get Ben to fight them off?" Diego's voice was judgmental, not towards me, though, it was judgmental towards Ben.

I shook my head, "no, I took care of it myself. I struggled, but... I managed."

"You took care of people armed with guns by yourself?" now his tone was judgmental towards me, he was talking with a suspicious tone, as if he were calling my bluff.

What the hell have I gotten myself into?

Diego chuckled, "that's bullshit."

His doubt of my achievement got on my nerves, making me want to prove my capability and abilities to him. The only family member I really didn't want to know about my capabilities was Five——I didn't want him sticking his arrogant nose where it didn't belong. I was fully aware that the moment Five find were to find out about it, if he were to find out about it, he would either began to exploit and weaponise it, whether I wanted to or not. Nonetheless, I didn't mind Diego knowing, I'd actually prefer to watch the confusion on his face.

"Well, you seem rather confident that you'd be able to take care of them yourself," my voice now came from behind him.

It felt as if his mind was tied into a knot. Nothing made sense; he was looking directly at me——my lips were sealed, however, my voice was somehow audible. Enhancing his state of confusion, my voice was coming from behind him.

His head swiftly turned around, his vision landing on the realistic projection of me.

"What the hell?" From the tone of his voice, I could tell he was startled.

"It's a projection of myself," my real self spoke, "I diverted the attention of the intruders using this, and was able to attack them."

"Son of a bitch," he replied.

My projection began to desolidify visually——it turned into a see through mess of static and glitch. "I do have one question though."

He turned back to face me, his proud eyes seemingly having been humbled slightly.

"Ben told me about what each of you can do," I gestured down to my lower-stomach with my chin, "and I'd like do avoid something like this from happening again."

He waited for me to go on.

"Can you teach me how to actually fight like you?" I smiled at him, "when Ben mentioned what your abilities are, and you having mentioned that you are a vigilante, I put two and two together. You're the Kraken. I've worked with vigilantes before, and I've heard a lot about you; some bitch who can manipulate the direction of thrown matter and hold his breath for like... ever."

Confidence reappeared in his eyes, and a smug grin was visible on his face. You knew it was only a matter of time before he would begin boasting of the things he could do, however, you only hoped he would agree to help teach you to fight.
