"Hey guys!" Mason called, gaining his friends attention. "What's that?" Caleb asked. "Some kind of box." Mason replied. "When did you get it?" Phil wondered. "It appeared at my doorstep at 3AM." Mason explained. "Should we open it?" Maxwell asked.

18-year-old Mason Patterson was 18-year-old Caleb Heart's best friend. He had dark brown hair, bright blue eyes, light skin, and was tall(ish) and skinny. Caleb had dark brown hair, dark brown eyes, pale skin, and was even taller and skinny.

14-year-old Philip Smith, 14-year-old Jackson Starr, and 15-year-old Gavin James were best friends. Everyone in the group knew that Phil liked Mason and that Jackson and Gavin had a thing for each other. Phil had golden blonde hair, dark brown eyes, and was very pale. Jackson had midnight black hair down to his shoulders, bright emerald green eyes, pale skin, and was tall and skinny. Gavin had light brown hair that barely touched his shoulders, hazel eyes that looked brown most of the time, light skin, and was tall and muscular.

13-year-old Maxwell Warner is probably what you would expect when you were thinking of a 13-year-olds personality. He had short light brown hair, hazel eyes, light skin, and about average in pretty much everything else.

"I don't know Maxwell." Jackson replied. "Usually things that appear at the doorstep at 3AM aren't to be trusted." "You don't know that." Maxwell responded. "The last time something appeared at one of our houses ended up with Jack almost being turned into a doll by the DollMaker." 14-year-old Rachel Heart reminded him.

Jackson had the biggest crush on Rachel. She had long, curly dark brown hair, hypnotic dark brown eyes, soft pale skin, and was a little on the shorter side.

"I don't remember that happening." 13-year-old Adam Carter protested. "You were also in Florida when it happened." 13-year-old Sally Starr replied. "I guess that's true." Adam responded with a shrug of his shoulder.

Adam Carter was kind of like Maxwell. He was pretty average. He had dark brown hair, bangs that swooped over his forehead, bright blue eyes, light skin, and was average in everything else.

Sally Starr was Jackson's cousin. She had blonde hair that was just barely passed her shoulders, dark brown eyes, light skin, and was just barely taller than average.

"Guys, I'm getting a bad feeling about this box." Phil protested. "I don't think we should open it." "I'm kinda with Phil on this one." Mason agreed. "That box is giving me a vibe that I don't like." "Well, it did appear at three in the morning." Jackson explained with that usual know-it-all tone he sported 90% of the time. "I guess that's true." Mason responded.

Suddenly, some of the group heard what could only be described as a deafening screech. "What's that noise?" Sally asked, glancing behind her. "I don't hear anything." Rachel protested. "It sounds like someone or something is screeching." Jackson explained. "Yeah, it does." Sally agreed. "It also sounds like it's coming from the box." Phil pointed out.

"I think you guys are crazy." Mason protested. "I can't hear anything coming from anywhere." "Trust us Mason!" Jackson yelled. "Yeah. I know what I heard, and that was no normal screeching sound." Sally agreed. "How do you know if you're not going crazy?" Lisa asked. "How do you know that the screeching is real?"

17-year-old Lisa Starr was Caleb's girlfriend. She had long, dirty blonde hair, forest green eyes, light skin, and was tall and about average.

"Guys, I'm putting my foot down." Jackson announced after swallowing bite of his sandwich. "Why do you need to?" Mason asked. "Because you don't understand!" Caleb explained, half yelling. "What don't we understand Caleb?" Rachel asked her brother. "That noise is real and it's driving us crazy." Caleb replied, glaring at his little sister. "It's so loud!" Jackson agreed.

"I'm just gonna open the box at this point." Caleb said. "As loud as it is, I don't think you should open that box Caleb." Jackson protested. "Why not?" Caleb asked. "You never what could be in there Cay." Rachel explained. "Just open the box Caleb. I'm tired of this noise!" Phil complained. "Just be careful Caleb." Jackson told him. "Like Rachel said, you never know what could be in there."

Suddenly, there a loud burst of lightning that startled Sally, Rachel, Phil, Jackson, and Caleb, also putting Maxwell and Mason on edge. "What was that?" Mason asked. Jackson looked terrified. "No... i-it can't be." He mumbled. "What can't be?" Lisa asked. Rachel coward behind her brother, who looked equally terrified. "He's back." She explained. "Who's back?" Adam asked.

Jackson's eyes widened as the shock settled in. "The DollMaker."
