"Ella! Come here, now!" I hear L scream while I am using the toilet before I skate to school.

You have got to be fucking kidding me.

I can't even use the toilet for at least a minute without her yelling at me.

I had no other time to use the toilet because my step-sisters were hogging up the bathroom all morning, getting ready for their sweet 16 which is tonight. Aka the same night of the senior color day football game.

I can't be at both.

"What do you need now?" I quickly zip my pants zipper up and wash my hands then head to the kitchen where she's eating the breakfast I MADE HER.

"I've heard such good things about your diner job, that I've promoted you to waiter for tonight's party. Isn't that great, you'll finally be included in something!" L cheers while sipping on her mocktail.

There is no way I am making her a cocktail this early in the morning when my dad is a drinker too.

"That's not a promotion, it's extra work. I'm headed to school," I groan while I grab my backpack and walk over to the door.

At school, I am greeted by Big Red, who has quite literally taken senior color day to the next level. He is wearing a red t-shirt, red jacket, headband, yoga pants, and Converse, and has painted his nails red too.

Melanie and Nini are wearing matching red devil outfits, Gina has a red crop top on, and Carlos has red nails.

Meanwhile, I forgot to wear red. I'm wearing a blue hoodie from Five Below and a pair of black Converse. I even found time to repaint my nails pink for tonight. Sorry Carlos. The red was nice while it lasted.

"Ricky, where's your school spirit? You look like sadness from Inside Out. Why the frown? Turn that frown upside down." Nini walks up to me as I am slowly walking towards my group of friends while avoiding the jocks and cheerleaders.

"I've been 'promoted' to waiter for tonight," I sigh leaving out the part about whose party it is because they already know,

"Didn't you make the appetizers though?" Big Red says while Nini places her hand over his mouth to get him to shush.

"Yeah. It doesn't matter. You guys have fun at the first football game tonight. It's not like my dad will be there to explain it to me." I whisper and put my head down while getting my things from my lockers.

"I can explain it to you. Come on ditch the party and join us, it'll be fun." Carlos nudges my shoulder and makes puppy eyes at me.

"No offense Carlos but all you know about the game is that there's a ball and they use their feet and hands to play," I give him a fake smile and walk away towards the science hallway.

"We gotta get him out of that house tonight," I hear Big Red whisper loudly to Gina who is walking behind me.

As usual, E.J is sitting in the front row of the science lab talking to one of his football friends. He is wearing his red letterman jacket, his workout pants, and red vans.

I try not to stare at him while I'm walking to the back of the classroom but Gina notices immediately.

"He looks really good today," Gina whispers to me once she's sitting in her seat next to me in the back row.
