Kristin, Marieke, and Sabrina resumed their research with renewed urgency, now aware of the depth of the threat they were facing. The connection between Hina and Anih lingered in their minds, though the specifics of Hina’s involvement remained unclear. They knew Anih was a shadow, but what was Hina's role in all this? And why had the Royal Family remained so tight-lipped?

Far from the Royal Guard headquarters, Hina and Sharxea were oblivious to the growing storm. Hina, still maintaining her guise as a regular human, had grown closer to Sharxea in the past few days. Their time together had been peaceful, filled with small moments of joy as they explored the human realm.

On this particular afternoon, Hina and Sharxea sat by a quiet riverbank, enjoying the warmth of the sun as it filtered through the trees. Sharxea’s laughter echoed through the woods, bringing a smile to Hina’s face.

“You know,” Sharxea said, tossing a stone into the river, “for someone who’s always seemed so secretive, you’re pretty fun to be around.”

Hina chuckled, her heart feeling lighter around Sharxea. She appreciated how simple everything seemed when they were together. “Maybe I just needed the right person to bring that side out.”

They shared a smile, and for a moment, it was as if the world outside didn’t exist. But deep down, Hina felt the weight of her secrets—secrets she had kept hidden from Sharxea.

Sharxea stood up, brushing off her clothes and giving Hina a playful nudge. “Come on, let’s head into town. I hear there’s a festival happening tonight.”

Hina nodded, following her friend. But as they walked, an unsettling feeling crept over her—a faint, lingering sense of being watched. She glanced around, scanning the treeline, but saw nothing out of the ordinary.

Unbeknownst to either of them, a distant figure watched from the shadows, its dark presence barely noticeable against the dense foliage. Anih had been observing Hina for days, unseen and unnoticed, her shadowy form melding with the darkness.

Though Anih had not yet made her presence known, her connection to Hina was undeniable. She could feel Hina’s energy, her power—strong, but controlled. Yet there was another aura she sensed: something raw, untamed, and familiar. It intrigued Anih, drawing her in closer, though she remained hidden for now.

Back at the Royal Guard headquarters, Kristin, Marieke, and Sabrina continued their work in earnest. Sabrina was in the middle of deciphering another passage from the ancient tome when a sudden wave of energy swept through the room. She froze, her hand hovering over the page as she felt the familiar pulse of magic.

Kristin and Marieke exchanged worried glances. “Did you feel that?” Kristin asked.

Sabrina nodded slowly, her eyes narrowing. “That same presence from before… It’s getting stronger.”

Marieke frowned. “But where is it coming from? We’ve been trying to pinpoint its location for days, and we’re no closer to figuring it out.”

Sabrina rubbed her temples in frustration. “I don’t know. It’s like the aura is constantly shifting, moving through different spaces. But it feels… familiar.”

Kristin paced the room, her mind racing. “We need to report this to the Royal Family, but we also need to keep investigating. There’s something we’re missing.”

Marieke nodded in agreement. “I’ll double-check our tracking spells. Maybe we’ve overlooked something.”

As the team continued to work, none of them could shake the feeling that they were on the edge of discovering something monumental. The aura they felt—so elusive, yet so powerful—was key to understanding the deeper mysteries surrounding Anih and the shadow’s return. But time was running out, and the darkness was closing in fast.
