The Royal Guard headquarters buzzed with activity as Sabrina, Kristin, and Marieke continued to track the elusive aura. Despite their best efforts, the source of the powerful energy remained a mystery. They reported the unsettling developments to the Royal Family, but with little concrete information, their next steps were unclear.

“I’m getting tired of feeling like we’re chasing shadows,” Marieke muttered as she reviewed the maps they had enchanted to pinpoint the source of the aura. “It’s always just out of reach.”

Kristin sighed, her brow furrowed in concentration. “We’ll find it. Whatever this is, it’s too strong to stay hidden forever. Keep focusing on the magic trails—there’s bound to be a pattern we haven’t seen yet.”

Sabrina, who had been scanning more ancient texts for clues, leaned back in her chair with a frustrated groan. “This aura… it feels familiar, almost like I’ve encountered it before, but I can’t place it. There’s something about it that’s off—like it doesn’t belong here.”

Kristin raised an eyebrow. “Do you think it’s connected to the shadow? Or something else entirely?”

“I’m not sure,” Sabrina admitted. “But whatever it is, it’s old magic. Ancient, even. And that worries me.”

Marieke glanced at Sabrina, her curiosity piqued. “You’ve encountered old magic before, right? Could it be linked to the fairy realm?”

Sabrina hesitated for a moment before answering. “Possibly. But if it is, we’re dealing with a power far greater than anything we’ve faced in recent memory.”

As they continued their work, the aura pulsed again—stronger this time. The energy swept through the room like a gust of wind, sending a shiver down Sabrina’s spine.

Kristin was immediately on edge. “There it is again. We need to act quickly.”

But before they could make a move, a knock on the door interrupted their discussion. A guard entered, his expression tense.

“Commander, you’re needed in the council chamber. The Royal Family wishes to discuss the recent developments,” the guard reported.

Kristin exchanged a glance with Marieke and Sabrina before nodding. “Very well. We’ll continue our investigation after the meeting.”

As they made their way to the council chamber, Kristin couldn’t shake the feeling that something wasn’t right. The aura was growing stronger, and she feared that their window of opportunity was closing.

Meanwhile, in the human realm, Hina and Sharxea were enjoying the festival in town. The streets were alive with vibrant colors, laughter, and the sounds of music filling the air. Hina had never seen anything like it, and for a brief moment, she allowed herself to relax.

Sharxea tugged Hina’s arm, pulling her toward a vendor selling glowing trinkets. “Look at these!” Sharxea exclaimed, picking up a small crystal that shimmered in the light. “They remind me of the magic back home.”

Hina smiled, but there was an unease in her heart. The sense of being watched had never left her since their outing by the river. She scanned the crowd, her instincts sharp, but saw nothing that stood out.

“Are you okay?” Sharxea asked, noticing Hina’s distracted expression.

“I’m fine,” Hina replied, though her voice was tinged with uncertainty. “Just… a little on edge.”

Sharxea frowned but didn’t press the issue. “Well, whatever it is, try to enjoy yourself. We’re supposed to be having fun, remember?”

Hina forced a smile, but as the night went on, she couldn’t shake the feeling that something—someone—was watching them from the shadows.

Unbeknownst to both of them, Anih’s presence lingered nearby. She had been observing Hina closely, waiting for the right moment to reveal herself. But for now, she remained in the background, watching and waiting as events unfolded.

Back at the Royal Guard headquarters, Kristin, Marieke, and Sabrina entered the council chamber to find the Royal Family seated around the grand table. The atmosphere was tense, and Kristin could tell that something had shifted.

Queen Silvana, her regal presence commanding the room, spoke first. “You’ve been tracking the aura for days, yet we still have no clear answers. What have you discovered so far?”

Kristin stepped forward, her voice steady. “Your Majesty, the aura we’ve been tracking is ancient, likely tied to old magic from the fairy realm. It’s been elusive, but it’s growing stronger with each passing day. We believe it may be connected to the shadow we encountered.”

King Aldric, his brow furrowed in thought, nodded. “And what of this shadow? Do you believe it poses a threat to the realm?”

“We do,” Kristin replied. “But we’re still piecing together its full nature. There’s something more to this than we originally thought.”

Sabrina, who had been silent until now, stepped forward. “The magic is unlike anything we’ve seen in generations. It feels… personal, as though it’s targeting something specific.”

Queen Silvana’s gaze darkened. “You must find out what it’s after, and quickly. We cannot afford to be caught off guard.”

As the meeting concluded, Kristin and her team were left with a sense of urgency. The Royal Family was clearly concerned, and they had no choice but to redouble their efforts.
