In the bustling cafeteria, the once lively atmosphere seemed quieter, dimmer. The absence of Soyeon hung over the space like a cloud, casting a shadow over the trainees who sat together, quietly picking at their lunches. The group—Taeyang, Daesung, Hyeon, Haeun, Jisoo, Yuna, and Minho—sat in a circle, their usual banter replaced by an undeniable sense of loss.
Taeyang broke the silence first, sighing as he stared at his food,
"It’s been a few days, and I still can’t get used to this.", he murmured, his voice filled with genuine sadness. "Soyeon was the heart of this place, u know? Everything feels so dull without her around."
Haeun nodded, her brows furrowed as she played with her chopsticks,
"I know what u mean," she agreed, her voice soft,
"She always knew how to lift our spirits, even when things were tough. I miss seeing her smile every morning."
Jisoo, sitting across from Haeun, sighed and rested her chin on her hand,
"I keep expecting her to walk through the door, u know? It just feels... incomplete without her.", she said wistfully, her eyes distant. "She brought so much energy and passion to everything. It's not the same without her."
Yuna, sitting next to Jisoo, bit her lip before speaking,
"I miss the way she always knew exactly what to say when we were struggling with our work. She was like a guide," she said, her voice cracking slightly with emotion,
"I can't imagine the office without her."
Daesung, who had been quiet, finally spoke, his deep voice carrying a tinge of regret
"She helped me so much when I was stuck on that last project. I’ve never met someone so willing to go out of their way for others.", he admitted, his usually calm demeanor showing signs of vulnerability,
"It’s not just the work I miss... it’s her presence."
Minho, who had been uncharacteristically quiet, sighed and shook his head,
"It’s unfair how everything went down. She didn’t deserve to be fired," he muttered, a flash of anger in his eyes, "I wish we could’ve done more."
Hyeon, the usually quiet one, finally chimed in, his voice low but steady,
"I miss her too. She gave this place life," he said simply, his words carrying weight, "Without her, everything feels... empty."
Taeyang, who had been silent for a moment, cleared his throat and spoke again, his voice filled with determination,
"I miss her the most," he admitted. "She always pushed me to be better, to never settle. I know she’s gone, but... I still feel her influence. I just hope we see her again soon."At a table nearby, Seungmin and Namjoon were having lunch, but their conversation was far from casual. Namjoon sat with a somber expression, barely touching his food. His mind was elsewhere—on Soyeon. The guilt and longing were evident in his eyes as he spoke to Seungmin.
"I can’t stop thinking about her...", Namjoon confessed, pushing his plate aside.
"Every time I walk past her old desk, it hits me again that she’s not here. And it’s my fault, Seungmin. I could’ve done more."
Seungmin, who was listening intently, nodded sympathetically,
"I know u feel that way, but u did everything u could. We both did.", he said, trying to comfort his friend.
"But it’s clear how much u’re missing her. U haven’t been urself since she left."
Namjoon ran a hand through his hair, frustration etched on his face,
"It’s more than that, Seungmin. I need her back. Not just for the work... but because I don’t know how to function without her," he admitted, his voice low and filled with emotion.
"Every day without her here feels... wrong."
Seungmin watched Namjoon carefully, his expression softening. He had known for a while how deeply Namjoon felt for Soyeon, even if Namjoon hadn’t realized it until now. "U really care about her that much, don’t u?" Seungmin asked, though he already knew the answer.
Namjoon’s eyes darkened with a mix of guilt and longing,
"More than I ever realized," he admitted quietly.
"I just... I didn’t think it would hurt this much. I didn’t think losing her would feel like losing a part of myself."
Seungmin sighed, leaning back in his chair,
"We’ll figure this out, Namjoon. We have to. We can’t let things end like this. Soyeon deserves better, and so do u."
Namjoon nodded, his gaze far away as he stared at the table,
"I just hope it’s not too late," he whispered, more to himself than to Seungmin.
