They stand four feet away from each other. Staring down at themselves with such fierceness and resentment that hardly existed between the both of them. Maybe such hatred did exist between them once. But it had been so long ago. It had been ages since she stared at him with her eyes ablaze, anger evident in them. It had been lifetimes since he had conspired against her. It seemed like forever since they had been enemies. Now the four feet space between them symbolized the miles and miles of distance that separates their once intertwined hearts. Betrayal, hurt and unadulterated anguish brewing between them.

Raya watched from the doorway, hidden from their sight. She was unable to fully understand the depth of the chaos about to unfold. She watched with bright, innocent eyes the action taking place between the two people in front of her. How would she understand what was happening when she was merely three years old? She watched as Cameron raised the gun. She observed with curiosity as his arm trembled, the black object pointed at Darya. For seconds they just stood there taking in each other. The last Cameron would ever see of Darya and the last she would ever see of him.

This isn't how lovers are meant to say goodbye, Darya thought sadly.

Raya's body went completely still with complete fear as two loud bangs from the gun sent the woman's body falling into a helpless pile of mush unto the floor. Raya couldn't make complete sense of it but she knew something very bad had just happened. Little did she know that this event would set off the nightmare her life would soon become.
