When you wake up, you're alone, in the manor. Resting on a cold gurney. You're heart racing, it was silent. Just the buzzing of the fluorescent lights in your ears and eyes. A chill in the air. Your heart pounded as you breathed into the space.
Alone. Afraid.
You stood, your feet hitting the concrete ground with little pat's each time you take a step. You wrap your leather jacket around yourself. Trying to draw out the cold. A girl with brunette hair comes whizzing down the hallway, clutching a boy with blonde hair.
"Y/n!" she yells, running towards you, wrapping you in a hug. You smile. Wrapping her in a hug as well. Holding her close.
"Hey, Rogue." You grin, nodding at Bobby, opening an arm to him. He wraps you in a hug as well. "Hey, Bobby."
"I'm so glad you're alright." She mumbles, letting you out of a hug. Bobby releases you too.
"Yeah, we thought you were gone."
You quirk an eyebrow, giving them a confused smile.
"Regenerative healing properties don't work like that."
They smile at you, nodding. You had captured their attention.
"Are Jean and Logan still here?"
They nod again. Rogue grabs your hand.
"Storm wanted to talk to you before you saw them though."
You nod, Bobby leading the way as Rogue chats with you, her hand gripping yours like it was the first time she'd ever held someone's hand. Like this was new and exciting for her.
Little kids poke their heads from their rooms and classes stop as kids rush to the door, whispers fill the hallway. Confusion riddling you. What was so interesting about you?
A familiar room approaches you and you stop at the doorway. Your breathing quick, your heart rate speeding.
"Y/n?" Rogue pauses, your hand gripping hers. You shake your head.
"I can't go in there." You whisper. Too much had happened there, just like the infirmary. With Xavier... nowhere was safe for you where he left his mark.
Storm stands from behind the desk, beckoning Bobby and Jean away, shutting the door behind her. She gestures for you to walk with her. You do, following after her, barefoot through the manor.
"You saved Jean." She states, her lightning white hair flowing slightly, her eyes dark and mysterious. You can only nod, your breathing finally slowing the further away you get from Xaviers office. "Despite what that could mean for the world, you left Logan, and saved Jean."
"I had to try."
"She killed, she murdered, she threatened the school, our lives, the world."
"She was terrified. Confused."
"That's no excuse-"
"You don't know what it's like to have your abilities used against you. To have the one person who promised, promised that you were safe and loved, tear that away from you. I left, and Xavier tortured Jean. Hid away that part of her to keep everyone else safe, she was terrified."
You stop, looking Storm in the eyes, she seems surprised that you'd talk to her like this. But you didn't have much to hide from these people anymore. They didn't deserve the headspace for you to hide from them.
"I'm not saying the murder was justified, but I'm not going to let her murder be justified either."
Storm smiles, nodding.
