Since sooo many people lost their minds over Rigo's parents, here's the start of the timeline how it happened 🫶🏼 bye.

Nathaniel's POV
17 Years Ago; Part One.

Send it. Just send it. Push send. I mentally scold myself, staring down at my text message I'm trying to send my cousin.

"I think I'm gonna relapse."

Send it.

Tonight's definitely not a good night, the voices are extra loud tonight and I'm itching to shut them up, itching to numb the pain.

"Been a while since I've seen you in here."

I look up at Trinity on the other side of the bar, smiling over at me. The bowling bar has been- or I should say was my favorite place to escape, hide away from my family and my problems.

Trinity and I actually got to know each other fairly well, physically I mean.

She had absolutely no idea why I would come in here to drown myself in my sorrows, but she definitely knew I came with baggage. She's far too pretty to be working in a shitty bowling alley bar, dealing with greasy ass men who constantly hit on her throughout the night.

We've actually pretended to be together a couple times when some idiot didn't know how to take no for an answer and she needed a little saving.

I exit out of my message thread, clearing out my screen and smile, looking up at her, "you cut your hair."

Her long dark curly hair is a lot shorter now. It's above her shoulder, when as before it was a little past it.

Her light brown eyes immediately begin to shine as she nods her head, "I cut it at the beginning of summer. It was way too hot to have it long."

Something that immediately attracted me to her, her eyes.

Trinity's eyes were more on the lighter side, darker than hazel for sure but definitely a lot lighter than my dark brown, hers were more honey colored, they instantly complimented the freckles on her face, on her caramel skin.

"It looks good," I tell her.

She smiles, "the usual?"

I nod.

She's placing a cold glass of beer in front of me a minute later on a paper coaster, handing over some napkins.

"Thank you," I smile.

She nods her head in return, "lemme know if you need a refill, first ones on the house."

I snort softly, "thanks, Trin."

She smiles one last time before she disappears to the back, leaving me alone at the bar.

There's a small group of friends playing pool behind me, at the one pool table this bowling alley has so I'm not entirely left alone in my head I guess.

I look down at the beer in front of me, pulling it in closer.

I don't necessarily have a drinking problem, beer, alcohol, it was never my issue, it's what would happen afterwards, what I would crave if I got buzzed enough, drunk enough. Getting high. Drunk me obviously has no control and caves in easily.

"Nate?"

I turn to look over my shoulder at the soft feminine voice to find none other than Hailey's ex best friend Carmen walking towards me.

"Rodriguez?" I smile, getting off to the bar stool.

I lean in to hug her real quick when she makes her way to me.
