Chapter 12: Goodbyes

Jasiah entered the draft a couple weeks back and was a top 5 pick and he got picked by the Chicago Lions. Which is very far from his family and friends. But it was a big change he had to be prepared for if he wanted his career to take off. For the last couple days he has decided to make the best of it.

Scott's Residence

Mama Joyce: I can't believe you're leaving baby.

Jasiah: Mama It's ok it's only for 1 year.

Mama Joyce: A year is a long time.

Anthony: Joy it's for the best, but I'm proud of you son.

Jasiah: Thanks dad I appreciate it.

Anthony: You're off to nothing but great things son.

Mama Joyce: (starts crying)

Anthony: He'll be a fine joy.

Jasiah walks over to his mom and hugs her.

Jasiah: I'll call you everyday.

Mama Joyce: You better.

Jasiah spent time with his parents before he left to go back to campus to hang out with the crew.

Later That Day

Niaomi, Kia, Jasiah, and Kyree got ready and went to an arcade full of tons of games. To have fun like their still teens enjoying each other's company.

Niaomi: Can't believe you are leaving!

Kyree: No frl but just know we got you no matter what happens.

Jasiah: Gonna miss y'all so much. (Looks around and looks deep into Kia's eyes)

Kia: (looks intensely into Jasiah eyes and smiles) I'm definitely gonna miss you.

Following that, they start playing in a wide range of diverse games. Given how fiercely competitive Niaomi and Kyree are during the basketball game. Alongside competing with one another while riding on the machine motorcycles. Kyree and Niaomi playing connect four hoops with Jasiah and Kia. While spinning the wheel to win additional tickets, Kia and Jasiah are playing. In the end, they each took a few group photos from the photo booth and a few individual ones with their significant others.

The Next Day

Given that this is the final day he will be spending with Kia for some time, Jasiah plans to surprise her with a picnic. He had covered her eyes with a blindfold so she would not be able to see where they were going. He led her out into a massive area of grass and field with trees surrounding around. When they got there, he had already prepared everything for her, including a blanket, pillows, flowers, rose petals, and a variety of her favorite food and snacks. He then removed her blindfold.

Kia: (shocked) You did all this?

Jasiah: Of course, anything for you.

Kia: (hugs him tightly) You are amazing, do you know that?

Jasiah: Yeah, the best you ever had.

Kia laughs as they take a seat on the ground. They feed the food to each other while they eat. Kia plays with Jasiah's hair while he lays his head on her lap. Jasiah stared into Kia's eyes admiring her pretty eyes. With a smile and flushed face, Kia stares down at him. Kia has thought that been in the back of her head for a while now. She then decides to bring it up to Jasiah since it's been weighing on her.

Kia: Do you think we could handle long distance?

Jasiah: Yes, why do you ask that?

Kia: Because you're leaving for a whole year, that's a long time Jasiah.

Jasiah: It'll fly by in no time.

Kia: You're going to be busy, and I don't want to be a distraction.

Jasiah sits up and grabs her hands.

Jasiah: I will never be too busy for you, and you would not be a distraction.

Kia: You sure?

Jasiah: Yes, you are everything to me baby.

Kia then reaches out to kiss him passionately on the lips for an extensive period of time. Jasiah was on top of her as they both fell lying down on the ground. They then started making out for a while until they pulled away.

Jasiah: I think we should get back to this good ass food.

Kia: (laughs) you right.

They finished eating and chatting until they started cleaning up so they could get ready to pack up and leave. They had headed back to Jasiah dorm room so he could finish packing up the last bit of things left.

At The Airport

At last, they arrived at the airport, where Kia waited for his flight after checking in with all of his baggage and reaching his gate. There was silence as they sat side by side, with Kia leaning her head on his shoulder and gripping his arm. Soon on the intercom " Now boarding flight to Chicago, Illinois ". While getting up, Jasiah rubbed Kia's thigh and glanced at her. Holding onto her as they were standing up.

Jasiah: I love you baby.

Kia: (starts crying) I love you so much.

Jasiah: (turning her face towards him) I will be back I promise.

Kia: This sucks.

Jasiah: I know but it's only temporary.

On the intercom " Last call now boarding flight to Chicago, Illinois "

Jasiah gives her one last tender kiss on the lips, as he breaks away from her. As he passes through the door, he sees Kia blowing him a kiss. He stares at her, catches the kiss, and holds his hand to his heart before the doors shut.
