[BWWM]
I was only twelve years old when the world turned cold. The day my mom died in that car accident, I felt like someone had dumped a bucket of ice water over my heart.
My dad, who had always been my hero, suddenly became a stranger, filled...
We were curled up on the couch, the soft light from the TV casting a warm glow over the room as we watched a comedy movie.
The laughter from the film seemed to fill the space, and to my surprise, Brandon let out a few genuine laughs here and there. It was nice to see him so engaged, even if just for a little while.
As the movie continued, I glanced over at him, noticing how relaxed he seemed.
The tension in his shoulders had eased, and his usual frown lines were softened into a more content expression.
I decided to seize the moment and suggested something a bit different.
"Hey, Brandon," I said, nudging him gently. "How about we do something a little fun and relaxing? I brought some face masks. Want to give them a try?"
He looked at me, eyebrows raised in curiosity. "Face masks? Really?"
I grinned. "Yeah. It'll be fun. Plus, it might help you relax even more."
Brandon chuckled, shaking his head. "Alright."
"Yay." I exclaim.
I quickly went to grab the face masks from my bag and returned to the couch. We set everything up on the coffee table, and I handed Brandon one of the masks.
"Alright, let's get these on," I said, applying the mask to my face first. "I'll help you with yours."
Brandon nodded, looking a bit amused as I carefully applied the mask to his face.
The close proximity made the moment feel a little more intimate than it intended to be, and I could see him glancing at me with a soft, appreciative smile.
As I finished applying the mask, I looked up into his eyes. For a moment, we simply stared at each other, the laughter and light-heartedness of the movie now replaced with a quieter, more personal connection.
The face masks made us both look a bit silly, but there was something undeniably sweet about the moment.
"You look kind of like a superhero." I said with a playful smile, breaking the silence.
Brandon laughed softly, the sound warm and genuine. "And you look like a... well, like a really cool superhero."
We both laughed, but the laughter soon faded into a comfortable silence.
Our eyes locked again, and the world outside seemed to vanish for a while. It was just the two of us, sharing a simple yet meaningful moment.
The evening felt special, not because of the movie or the face masks, but because of the connection we were building.
As we sat there, side by side, I felt a sense of closeness that made me hopeful for what might come next.

After we finished with the face masks and laughed about our silly appearances, Brandon showed me the guest room where I'd be staying.
It was cosy and neatly arranged, and I appreciated the effort he'd put into making it comfortable.
"Thanks for letting me crash here," I said with a warm smile. "I promise not to make a mess."
He grinned, giving me a playful nudge. "Don't worry about it. Just make yourself at home."
We said goodnight, and I settled into the guest room. However, despite my efforts to relax and get comfortable, sleep didn't come easily.
My mind kept wandering, thinking about everything that had happened in the past week and the special moments we'd shared.
Around past midnight, unable to sleep, I decided to check on Brandon. I walked quietly down the hall to his room, hoping he might still be awake.
When I gently knocked on his door, there was no response. I pushed it open slightly and saw that he was lying in bed, looking at the ceiling.
"Hey," I said softly, trying not to startle him. "I couldn't sleep.
