Khongkwan, still frowning and sulking, refused to let go of her irritation. Her arms were crossed tightly, and even though the banter had lightened things up a bit, she was holding onto her mood.
Fon, noticing Khongkwan’s persistent frown, raised an eyebrow and leaned in closer. “Why are you still frowning?” she asked, her tone playful but curious.
Khongkwan didn’t respond, just continued to pout. Fon couldn’t help but smile at the sight and decided to up the teasing. She leaned even closer, her voice dipping into a soft, playful baby talk. “Awww, Khongkwan, you’re so cute when you sulk like this. I just want to pinch your cheeks!”
Khongkwan’s face flushed, her irritation momentarily breaking as she glanced at Fon with a mix of annoyance and embarrassment. “Don’t talk to me like that, Fon.”
But Fon wasn’t letting up. She grinned, seeing the cracks in Khongkwan’s sulky facade. “Come on, you know I’m just messing with you. But seriously, you’re adorable when you’re all pouty.”
Khongkwan rolled her eyes, trying to stay serious, but a faint smile tugged at her lips despite herself. “You’re impossible, Fon.”
Fon chuckled, satisfied that she was slowly winning Khongkwan over. “I know, I know. But I want to make up for last night, okay? How about I treat you to a nice meal? You can order whatever you want, and I’ll make it up to you properly.”
Khongkwan glanced at Fon, her frown slowly fading as she considered the offer. She didn’t want to forgive Fon so easily, but the thought of a meal—and the gesture—was tempting.
“I don’t know…” Khongkwan replied, still half-sulking, but less convincingly now.
Fon leaned in with a hopeful grin. “Come on, Khongkwan. Let me make it up to you. I’ll even let you pick the place.”
Khongkwan sighed, finally giving in just a little. “Fine. But it better be a really good meal.”
Fon beamed, relieved that she had finally gotten through to her. “Deal! Whatever you want, it’s on me.”
Khongkwan allowed a small, reluctant smile. “You better keep your word, Fon.”
“I promise,” Fon replied, her tone sincere but still playful. “Anything for you.”
Khongkwan stood up abruptly, grabbing Fon by the wrist and pulling her toward the door. Fon, still caught off guard, stumbled slightly as she followed. “Whoa, where are we going?” Fon asked with a laugh.
Without turning back, Khongkwan replied with a firm, “You said you’d treat me to a meal. So, we’re going.”
Fon chuckled, trying to keep up with Khongkwan’s pace. “Do we really need to go 'right now'?”
At that, Khongkwan stopped in her tracks and turned to face Fon, her lips already forming that familiar pout again. “Yes. Now.”
Fon couldn’t help but laugh softly, adoring how Khongkwan’s sulkiness was resurfacing. She gently squeezed Khongkwan’s hand. “Alright, alright. You win, Khongkwan. Let’s go now.”
Khongkwan’s pout softened, though she kept her expression serious, not willing to admit just how pleased she was. She pulled Fon toward her car, clearly determined.
As they reached the car, Fon couldn’t stop smiling, her heart warming at Khongkwan’s eagerness. “You’re really something, you know that?” Fon teased as she slid into the passenger seat.
Khongkwan just gave her a side-eye but didn’t say anything, her lips twitching as if she was fighting back a smile. She started the car and drove off, the air between them lighter, filled with unspoken warmth.
