Anyone who knew Ares knew he was a natural performer, his teachers, parents and students all knew he was born to be on stage. Whether it was for sports or music, he was far too talented to fade into the background. So whenever a school function rolled around the blonde was often asked to perform, as it saved the school money on entertainment and gave them the opportunity to boast their star student.

Ares didn't mind though as he loved performing, as it was more for himself than the crowds that came to see him. They seemed to disappear the moment he began to play, often losing himself in the rhythm of the music. And he suspected that tonight would be no different, as he stood in the wings of the stage ready for the show to begin.

Mikey and Sanzu were dressed in their disguises of rather casual clothing, as they hid in one of the rows further from the stage, waiting for the show to start. "Looks like your kid is opening and closing the show," Sanzu noted, eyeing the program his intoxication clear as day though he hid it well enough that people around them hadn't noticed. Now Mikey's original plan was to attend the recital alone, but his right hand insisted on tagging along. In case anything kicked off, at a school music show.

The lights finally dimmed and the spotlight hit centre stage and on walked Ares, dressed in formal attire holding a dark brown violin in one hand and the bow in the other. All in the room were silent as they waited for the blonde to begin playing, and oh when he did was a sight it was. Now Mikey and Sanzu expected the boy to be good, but not this good.

Every note he played was crisp, and filled with charged emotion. Filling the room with a harmonious symphony that was simply beautiful, as the peace continued it began to grow faster in pace. The peaks and valleys at the right times created a sound that was better than most professional violinists could do, nothing short of a cinematic work of art.

Mikey couldn't help but focus on his son, how the violin was tucked under his chin. The way he swayed slightly as he played as if the music was coursing through his veins. The way he closed his eyes and allowed himself to forget that he was performing for a room of at least three hundred people, he looked peaceful. Free even, and Sano Manjiro couldn't help but let his mind wander.

Imagine a world where he and his son live together, Ares asking for his father's opinion on a new piece of music he had just learned. Dragging Mikey to sit on the sofa with a glass of whiskey in hand, as he listened to his son play for him, who at the end of it all eagerly awaited feedback. Though the older Sano would never say anything but positive words about his son, he was his boy and he was perfect in his eyes. Oh, what he was willing to give to make that a reality.
