The day after the U.S.J. incident was nothing short of surreal. The halls of U.A. were buzzing with whispered conversations about what had happened. But despite the chaos of yesterday, everything seemed calm on the surface.
I sat at my desk, mentally replaying the events that had unfolded. The Nomu, Shigaraki, Kurogiri...the whole attack on the U.S.J. had left us all shaken.
The door slid open, and Aizawa entered, wrapped up in bandages from head to toe. His injuries from fighting off the villains still fresh, but he moved with his usual detached demeanor.
"Morning," he said, his voice gruff but steady.
"Mr.Aizawa, you're back too soon!"
"So you're alright, Mr. Aizawa?" Iida asked as he raised his hand.
"My well-being doesn't matter. More importantly, the fight is not yet over." He paused, scanning the room. "The U.A. sports festival is drawing near."
A sudden murmur broke out across the classroom. The sports festival was a huge chance for all students to showcase their abilities and, more importantly, make an impression on the pro heroes.
I could feel Bakugo's energy shift in front of me. His eyes lit up with a fierce determination, and his usual cocky smirk appeared. "Those extras will lose against me."
I raised an eyebrow, amused. "You're already thinking about victory?"
Bakugo turned around, his smirk turning into a confident grin as he looked at me. "Damn right, I am. And you better not hold back, plant girl. I'm not losing to anyone, especially not someone from my own class."
I couldn't help but laugh at his boldness. "Oh, don't worry. I'll bring my A-game."
Before Bakugo could respond Jiro suddenly began to speak. "Is it okay to have a sports festival so soon after the villains snuck inside?"
The class fell silent for a second before Aizawa answered. "Apparently, they think of it as U.A. showing that our crisis management system is solid as a rock by holding the event. Security will also be strengthened to five times that of previous years." Aizawa's eyes locked on each one of us. "Above all, our sports festival is a huge chance. It's not an event to be canceled because of a few villains. Our sports festival is one of Japan's biggest events."
As the class continued talking, my mind kept drifting at the thought that I too could be a pro hero if I show my skills at the festival. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
"Homeroom is dismissed."
Before we could get too carried away, it was lunchtime. As soon as the bell rang, I packed my things and glanced at Bakugo, who was already stomping towards the door. Typical.
I trailed behind, knowing he would probably just find a spot to eat alone or with Kirishima, like usual. I grabbed my lunch and followed him to the cafeteria, where the air was filled with the smell of freshly cooked food and the noise of students chattering.
As I entered, I spotted Bakugo already seated near the back, aggressively eating his lunch. His brow was furrowed, clearly still focused on the announcement from earlier.
I headed over, sitting down across from him. "So, no one's sitting here?"
Bakugo shot me a look, pausing for just a second before grumbling. "Tch, doesn't matter. Sit if you want."
I smirked, opening my lunch box. "Geez, you're in an extra good mood today, aren't you?" Bakugo shot me a deadly look but didn't say anything as he continued to eat his food. I cleared my throat, trying to break the silence between us. "So...are you doing anything special for the sports festival?" I asked, watching for his reaction.
