I'd been studying non-stop for the final exams.
Well, mostly.
The academic stuff wasn't my favorite, especially math. I couldn't get those numbers to line up in my brain, no matter how much I tried. I'd spend hours on practice problems, only to end up more frustrated than when I started.
As I sat in class, my mind wandered to the practical exam. That part, I was confident about. I'd been working on my quirk and physical conditioning nonstop. If the exam was anything like what we'd been doing so far, I knew I could handle myself.
Just then, the bell rang, indicating the end of the class. Aizawa began to prepare to leave the classroom but stopped to look at us.
"There's only one week left until the final exams. You are all studying properly, right?" He addressed the class. "I'm sure you already know, but it won't just be a written exam. Make sure you train your minds and bodies at the same time. That's all." Aizawa closed the door behind him, leaving the classroom.
I straightened in my seat, feeling the pressure mount.
I wasn't the only one concerned about the written portion. Kaminari and Mina both had the same problem. "I haven't studied at all."
I chuckled a little, knowing exactly how they felt. "I've been having trouble with math," I admitted. "No matter how much I study, it just doesn't click."
"Tell me about it," Kaminari groaned. "It's like the numbers are running away from me."
"Ashido, Kaminari, Y/N," Midoriya called, making us turn around to look at him. "L-Let's do our best! We all want to go to the training camp together, right?" He looked cheerful and optimistic as usual.
"Yes!" Iida walked up to us. "As class rep, I also have high hopes that you'll all be moved to action!"
"It's pretty hard to fail if you just pay attention in class," Todoroki said, his voice low.
"Easy for you to say!" I pointed at Todoroki, feeling defeated by his words. He had always been one of the top students so of course this would be easy for him.
Before the conversation could go further, I noticed a group starting to form around Momo. Being first in the midterms, she was the natural choice for everyone to ask for help.
I watched as Momo gracefully handled all their questions. I could've joined them, but I had something else in mind.
I decided to walk over to Bakugo and Kirishima who seemed to be talking. "Hey, guys," I called out as I approached. "Are you two studying together?"
Kirishima beamed at me. "Yeah! Bakugo said he'd help me out, which is awesome 'cause I seriously need it!"
"Lucky you," I said, glancing at Bakugo, who looked like he'd rather be anywhere else.
Turning fully to Bakugo, I decided to take my chances. "Do you think I could join you guys? My math is terrible, and I could really use some help..."
Bakugo shot me a sharp glare. "Why should I help you with your crappy math?"
I gave a small, awkward laugh. "I mean, you're already helping Kirishima, right?"
Kirishima quickly backed me up, trying to ease the tension. "C'mon man, the more, the merrier, right?"
Bakugo grumbled under his breath, clearly annoyed but not completely refusing. "Fine. I'll show you I'm the best teacher out there!"
I smiled, relieved that he hadn't shut me down. "Thank you, Bakugo."
