With Mina officially on our team, we lined up with the rest of the students. Bakugo tied the headband with our points around his forehead, taking his place as the rider. I stood on his right, Mina on the left, and Kirishima at the front, all of us carrying him steadily.
"Now, raise those battle cries!" Present's Mic voice boomed through the stadium as the crowd began to cheer loudly. "It's time for U.A.'s bloody battle! Light the signal fire!"
Bakugo cracked his knuckles, a serious expression on his face. His eyes locked onto Midoriya across the arena.
"Three!" Present Mic began to count down.
"We're aiming for Deku," Bakugo growled.
"Two!"
I glanced over at him, knowing full well that he wasn't just talking about Midoriya's headband. This was personal.
"One!"
Without another word, we braced ourselves, ready to follow his lead into chaos.
"Start!" Midnight's voice echoed across the stadium as the teams charged at each other, scrambling for headbands while trying to protect their own.
We moved in sync, Bakugo perched on our shoulders, eyes scanning the crowd for Midoriya. He was like a hawk hunting its prey.
We saw Midoriya's team in the distance, already fending off attacks. Bakugo's grip tightened as he leaned forward, signaling us to move faster. "Let's take them down," he barked.
I noticed the grass surrounding the arena as we rushed forward. Perfect. I concentrated, using my quirk to make the grass spring to life. Long, sturdy grass twisted, latching onto nearby teams to slow them down or trip them up. It gave us a clear path, allowing us to navigate the chaos more efficiently.
A team tried to charge at us from the side, but I quickly manipulated the grass again, causing it to tangle around their feet, making them stumble. Mina threw acid in the direction of another team trying to flank us, forcing them to retreat.
As we sprinted forward, I spotted Midoriya's team high up in the air.
Bakugo's eyes locked onto them, his expression darkening. "You damn nerd!" He growled, and without even giving us a second to react, he propelled himself into the air with a powerful explosion.
"You idiot, what the hell are you doing?!" I shouted, but he wasn't listening.
As Bakugo charged toward Midoriya's team, Tokoyami's Dark Shadow burst out to intercept him. The shadowy figure expanded its dark, bird-like form blocking Bakugo's every attack. The impact sent Bakugo spiraling downwards, unable to maintain his flight.
Seeing him fall, I quickly reacted. Without even thinking, I extended my hand, activating my quirk. The grass surrounding the arena stretched and twisted, growing rapidly into long vines. They lashed out, reaching for Bakugo as he plummeted, wrapping around his waist just in time to stop his fall.
"I've got you!" I yelled, pulling him back towards us. The vines held him tight, stopping his descent and gently guiding him into my and Mina's arms.
"You're heavier than you look," Mina grunted, struggling to balance with him in her arms. I braced myself, helping to support him, my hands under his arm as we steadied him.
"Shut up!" Bakugo growled, glaring at us as he returned to his position. He shrugged off the help like he didn't need it, but there was a flash of gratitude in his eyes, if only for a second. "We're not done yet. Let's go after Deku again!"
