EMERALD'S POV💎

Aidan stood frozen, his eyes locked onto mine as I wiped my mouth, panic flashing across his face. His words hung heavy in the air, as if they weighed a ton.

"Are you... are you pregnant?" he asked again, his voice barely above a whisper.

I froze, my heart thudding in my chest. I couldn't let him know. Not now. Not yet. My brain scrambled to form the words, to find a way to deny it, to make it go away.

"No," I said quickly, too quickly. "No, I'm not. I'm just—" I stumbled over my words, trying to make them sound convincing. "I've just been feeling off lately. Stressed. Maybe it's something I ate."

Aidan's eyes narrowed, his gaze sharp as he studied me. His disbelief was palpable, and I could feel the walls closing in around me. He wasn't buying it. Not for a second.

"Blue, don't lie to me," he said, his voice firm but edged with desperation. "I know something's wrong. You've been acting different for weeks."

I swallowed hard, trying to maintain my composure, but the panic rising inside me was suffocating. I couldn't let him know the truth—not now, not like this. "I'm telling you, it's nothing," I insisted, my voice cracking.

Aidan shook his head, his frustration building. "You're not fine, and you're not telling me everything. If you're pregnant, Emerald, I need to know. We need to deal with this together. We need to talk to your dad, I'm sure he'll understand."

"I'm not pregnant!" I snapped, the words escaping me harsher than I intended. My hands trembled at my sides, but I forced myself to stay firm, to hold onto the lie I was spinning.

Aidan took a step closer, his eyes darkening with a mix of fear and anger. "Then prove it. Let's go to the hospital. Now. We can find out for sure."

The air between us grew thick with tension, and I could feel my heart pounding in my throat. My mind raced. I couldn't let him drag me to a hospital. I couldn't let him find out the truth.

"I don't need to go to a hospital!" I exclaimed, my voice rising with panic. "Why can't you just trust me when I say I'm fine?"

"Because you're not!" Aidan shouted, his frustration boiling over. "I know you, Blue. I've known you since we were kids.  Something's going on, and you're trying to hide it from me. If you're pregnant, this isn't just about you. It's about us. About what happened between us. No matter what happens, I'll protect you from everyone."

I felt the weight of his words settle over me, the pressure mounting until it felt like I couldn't breathe. My emotions were spiralling out of control, and I could feel the guilt and shame clawing at me from the inside.

"I'm not hiding anything!" I snapped back, even though deep down, I knew I was. I was hiding everything.

Aidan's jaw tightened, and I could see the hurt in his eyes. He wasn't just angry—he was scared. And that fear was making him push me harder, even though I was already on the edge.

"Fine," he said coldly, taking a step back. "If you don't want to go to the hospital, then I'll leave. But I'm not going to sit here and pretend everything's okay when it's not. If you're lying to me, you're only making things worse. I'll give you a week to toughen up and break up with the idiot, if not, I'll tell him everything myself."

The room felt like it was closing in on me, the walls pressing against my chest. I couldn't breathe, couldn't think straight. My emotions were tearing me apart, and all I wanted was for this conversation to end.

"Just go, Aidan," I whispered, my voice cracking with exhaustion. "I can't do this right now."

For a moment, he just stood there, his eyes locked onto mine, searching for answers I wasn't ready to give. Then, without another word, he turned and walked toward the door, the same way he'd come in.
