Emerald's POV.💎

         

"Your nanny makes the best food in the entire universe."  Sheldon said and I smiled. After Aidan and I ended things between us, I always give Aidan's packed lunch to Sheldon. It's been a month now since we ended things. And he's  kept to his word. We both ignore each other like total strangers.

Aunt Jenna isn't aware that Aidan and I aren't friends anymore. And my dad found it strange when he didn't attend my family's dinner night last week. Aidan always attends my family functions not only because he's my best friend, but because he's the son my dad never had. At least, that's what dad tells me.

My dad really likes Aidan a lot and ever since his father died, he resumed the responsibilities of being a father to him. They used to go for Ski trips and basketball games together. They never take me along all in the name of  "it's a men's world thing". 

Thinking of the memories now, it saddened my heart and I felt a single tear fall freely down my cheeks. I never expected things to end this way. I never really did.
"Hello? Down to earth, Emerald! What the hell are you thinking about." Sheldon said bringing me out of my trance.

"Umm....I'm sorry for zoning out on you. It's just that I have a lot on my mind lately...I'm really sorry."  I said and put on my fake smile.
"You were thinking of him right?"  He asked calmly and I shook my head.

"Can I ask you a question?"  Sheldon asked suddenly with a hesitant tone and I told him to go ahead.

"I want you to have dinner with me tomorrow." He said in a rush and I frowned. "Umm, I mean tomorrow is Saturday and if you'd be busy, I totally understand."  He added and I smiled.

"So you're asking me to go on a date with you?"  I asked and wiggled my brows at him.

"Umm....err...something like that." He said with a little scratch on his head and I laughed.
"You know, you're very cute when you're nervous." I said with a huge grin on my face.

"I've been staring at this assignment for only God knows when!!! If Aidan was here, he would have done my assignment for me." Don't get me wrong,  I love maths but some equations are just beyond my thinking.

Aidan is a real shark when it comes to maths. So I call him my Chargie but it's really unfortunate with how things fell easily between us. I angrily shut the laptop and fell face flat on the bed.

"Hey honey", my dad said as he got inside my room,  with a tray in hand as usual.

"Hey get up lazy bear."  My dad muttered and placed the tray on the night stand. "I brought you breastmilk. So hurry up and come do some suckie, suckie."
"Jeez Dad, stop this suckie suckie thing...it's so embarrassing!!"  I said and he laughed.

My dad always finds some sort of way to tease me intensely. Apparently, I used to say suckie suckie breastmilk when I was still a toddler. That was when mom left us to chase clout.
I sat up right on the bed and took the milk and my favourite chocolate cookies and started munching right away.

"When is Aidan coming over?" My dad asked and I faked a cough loudly. "Umm....I don't know. Well,  he's been really busy these days, so he hardly gets time to come over."  I said in a rush, hoping he'll drop the issue.

"He's busy? For a whole month now? What the hell is he busy doing?" He asked with a slight frown which confused me. "Umm....he's busy doing stuffs. I mean he told me he would be visiting his dad's estates recently. And he's thinking of managing his dad's businesses now. So he's a very busy man now."  I said, knowing fully well that it's a lie. But I hope he drops the topic now. I thought to myself as I gave him my famous innocent smile.

"Don't worry about it. I'm going to call him right now."  My dad said and my heart skipped a bit. He took out his phone from his pocket and called his number. He put the phone on speaker, so I could hear whatever they'll say.

"Hey little boy."  My dad said as soon as he picked up the call.

"Yo Pops..." Aidan said from the other side of the line and I panicked. I pray my dad doesn't rat out all the lies I just told. I thought to myself with my fingers crossed.

"What kind of son stops visiting his Pops?" My dad asked and he laughed.
"I'm so sorry about that. I'll come by soon. I do miss you a lot."  Aidan said and I sighed.

"Do come by tomorrow. I'm taking the day off to spend time with you and Blue."  My dad said and he sighed.
"Sure Pops, I'll come by tomorrow." Aidan said and my heart flipped.

      
What will happen tomorrow? Will he acknowledge me? Or will he pretend like I didn't exist right in front of my dad? Will we behave like how we used to be? Act in front of everyone?  I thought to myself as I drank the last drop of my milk.
My dad took the glass out of my hand and placed it on the tray.

"Get some sleep, suckie suckie. We're gonna have lots of fun tomorrow." My dad said and gave me a peck on my forehead.
"I love you daddy." I said and kissed his cheeks in return.
"I love you more, Blue."  He said and took the tray out.

I switched off the bedside lamp and as my eyes got used to the darkness, I thought about Aidan and  how he's reaction is  gonna be when we see each other tomorrow.

This time around, there will be no Sheldon, and definitely non of his popular friends or any of his duck looking fuck buddies. It will be just him, my dad and I. Just like old times. I mean the good old times.

I closed my eyes and imprinted all the good memories in my mind, just as sleep took me slowly away.
